The Position

The Instructional Coach (Middle & High Schools) will be responsible for coaching and mentoring middle and high school teachers to improve instructional practices, student engagement, and learning outcomes. 

The coach will work with teachers to integrate best practices into their pedagogy, aligning with the American curriculum, AERO standards, and the UAE School Inspection Framework. 

The Instructional Coach will also ensure that teachers are sensitive to UAE cultural values and norms, promoting creative, innovative teaching and learning methods

Job Description

1. Instructional Coaching and Support:

· One-on-One Coaching: Provide individualized coaching to middle and high school teachers to enhance their instructional skills, focusing on student engagement, content delivery, and differentiation.

· Modeling Effective Practices: Demonstrate effective teaching techniques in classroom settings, showcasing student-centered learning, inquiry-based instruction, and the use of technology to support learning.

· Feedback and Reflection: Conduct classroom observations, followed by constructive feedback and reflective discussions to help teachers improve their instructional practices.

· Innovative Teaching Methods: Encourage teachers to adopt creative, innovative teaching strategies that engage middle and high school students and meet their diverse learning needs.

2. Professional Development and Training:

· Workshops and Training: Develop and lead professional development workshops focused on curriculum design, instructional strategies, assessment methods, and classroom management for middle and high school teachers.

· Ongoing Professional Growth: Support teachers in their professional development journey, helping them stay up to date with the latest educational research, strategies, and technologies.

· Data-Driven Instruction: Train teachers on how to analyze and use student performance data to inform instructional planning and adapt lessons to meet the needs of all learners.

· Lesson Planning: Assist teachers in creating engaging, standards-aligned lesson plans that incorporate differentiation, formative assessments, and effective instructional practices.

3. Curriculum Alignment and Instruction:

· Curriculum Development: Ensure that the instruction aligns with the American curriculum and AERO standards, focusing on the skills and knowledge middle and high school students need for success.

· Standards-Based Instruction: Support teachers in developing lessons and assessments that align with AERO standards and the objectives of the American curriculum.

· Assessment Support: Provide guidance on formative and summative assessments that measure student progress and align with curriculum goals

4. UAE Cultural Sensitivity and UAE School Inspection Framework Compliance

· Culturally Responsive Teaching: Promote teaching practices that reflect UAE cultural values, heritage, and national identity, ensuring lessons are culturally relevant and sensitive. 

· UAE Inspection Framework: Assist teachers in aligning their instructional practices with the requirements of the UAE School Inspection Framework to ensure readiness for school inspections. 

· Parent and Community Engagement: Guide teachers in fostering strong partnerships with parents and the community, ensuring school practices reflect the values of the local culture. 

5. Collaboration and Team Building: 

· Collaborative Coaching: Facilitate professional learning communities (PLCs) among middle and high school teachers to foster collaboration and the sharing of best practices. 

· Cross-School Collaboration: Collaborate with instructional leaders, coaches, and educators across schools to ensure consistent instructional quality and alignment with curriculum goals.

· School Leadership Support: Work closely with school leadership teams to identify areas for instructional improvement and support school-wide initiatives to enhance teaching and learning. 

6. Innovation and Creativity in Teaching and Learning: 

· Innovative Strategies: Promote the use of creative, innovative teaching strategies, including technology integration, project-based learning, and experiential learning, to engage middle and high school students. 

· Problem-Solving Support: Assist teachers in identifying and addressing instructional challenges with creative, evidence-based solutions. 

· Learning Environment: Encourage teachers to create engaging, dynamic learning environments that foster critical thinking, collaboration, and independent learning among middle and high school students.

Qualifications, Experience and Competencies

Educational Background: 

· Bachelors or Masters degree in Secondary Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership, or a related field. 

· Certification as an Instructional Coach is highly desirable. 

Experience: 

· Minimum 5-7 years of teaching experience in middle or high school settings, with demonstrated success in improving student outcomes. 

· Previous experience as an instructional coach, mentor teacher, or educational leader in middle and high schools, preferably within an American curriculum context. 

· Strong understanding of UAE culture and the UAE School Inspection Framework. 

· Curriculum Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of the American curriculum, AERO standards, and best practices in middle and high school education.
