Are you looking to join a dynamic IB team in the Paris area? Nestled in the natural settings of Maisons-Laffitte, 20 minutes away from the centre of Paris. Ermitage is an international school with a diverse, global team of IB educators focused on the success and well-being of our students. We look for a solid knowledge base of the subject, by candidates willing to work with different pedagogical approaches and colleagues from all over the world. 

As part of our expansion and in alignment with our Ermitage International IB School Mission, Vision, and IB philosophy, we are launching the International Primary Programme for children aged 8 and older. This programme will use an inquiry-based approach, featuring small class sizes at our Ermitage IB School campus. Instruction will be in English, with opportunities for students to learn French at all levels, from beginner to bilingual. These classes prepare students for our MYP and DP programmes through transdisciplinary learning, emphasising critical thinking, collaboration, and international mindedness, in line with the IB Learner Profile. We are keen to integrate in this interactive learning environment, opportunities for outdoor learning making use of the beautiful surroundings of Maisons-Laffitte park and forest.

Salary: Salary is dependent on experience and in line with Ermitage IB School teacher salaries

Job Description:

  • Lead the launch and development of the new International Primary Programme, focusing on programme design, timetabling, resource development, and co-curricular activities
  • Deliver engaging, inquiry-based, transdisciplinary instruction in English for Primary students
  • Offer differentiated support for English (and French) language learning across levels
  • Manage a small group of students spanning two-year groups with personalised teaching approaches
  • Support student induction at the start and mid-year, ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience for children and parents
  • Promote student academic achievement, well-being, and co-curricular engagement, including the planning of class visits in and around Paris, with learning sessions in the forest environment of Maisons-Laffitte
  • Foster critical thinking, collaboration, and international-mindedness
  • Collaborate closely with the IB curriculum team and Bilingual Primary school team supporting the programme
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for International Primary Programme parents, and other community members as regards the International Primary Programme, including liaising with our EAL Coordinator, Diverse Learning Needs Department, and MYP Coordinator
  • Act as a programme ambassador and advocate for International Primary Programme students within the school community
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and pedagogical innovation
  • Be aligned with and stay abreast of IB programme developments to ensure an effective transition for IPP students to our MYP programme
  • Adhere to high standards of safeguarding, health and safety, and wellbeing approaches, including staying current with regulations, training, and following established policies and protocols


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field, specialising in primary education
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching certification
  • Successful teaching experience in an international school setting
  • Experience or demonstrated interest in implementing inquiry-based, transdisciplinary curricula, particularly within an IB or similar framework
  • Experience communicating with parents and collaborating with school staff across departments, with experience in holding a responsibility within a school setting, such as coordinating activities or leading a project, is advantageous
  • Proficiency in English with strong communication skills; proficiency in French is preferable

Remuneration and Benefits

The role is remunerated in line with Ermitage IB School salaries, subject to qualifications and experience as stated above.

Whilst we do not offer an ‘expat package’ and accommodation and other benefits are not provided, if required for the successful candidate, support for an international move can be provided to include travel/flights to Paris, visa arrangements, and a settling-in allowance.
