The Role

As an IT Services Coordinator your primary responsibility will be to act as the Site Coordinator for one of put five College buildings within Liverpool.

You will help to manage IT resources, work with other IT staff, and get the opportunity to use your skills and knowledge to broaden the skills of the IT Services department, to help us meet the demands of staff and students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
  • Technical Functions:
  • • Be the site Co-ordinator with responsibility for the IT resources and management of staff.
  • • Provide general 1st / 2nd / 3rd line IT support to users on-site.
  • • Provide technical solutions for users.
  • • Responsible for site-resources and allocations.
  • • Follow documentation processes and procedures for new and existing site resources.
  • • Maintenance of the software catalogue and current licences.
  • • Responsibility for the facilitation of on-site Exams (software and hardware).
  • • Deploy both hardware and software to facilitate the educational experience.
  • • Utilise knowledge of the area of work to support an effective, user-friendly and professional service.
  • • Meeting SLAs.
  • • Provide general support for the teaching of students at college centres with a specific focus on Technology Enhanced Learning equipment and processes.
  • • Ensure an appropriate level of support is provided for the business support areas of the centre to ensure the continued operation of IT systems.
  • • Maintain IT equipment to ensure its efficient operation and performance levels.
  • • Demonstrate a range of IT equipment to staff / students to ensure their safe operation.
  • • Carry out basic maintenance tasks including a range of testing to ensure equipment remains in a safe and good working condition.
  • • Carry out routine record keeping ensuring accurate records of maintenance etc are maintained.
  • • Transport goods and equipment on the centre using trolleys/vehicles and complete site set up.
  • Health & Safety:
  • • Comply with internal and external health and safety guidelines, instructions and regulations
  • • Ensure IT Areas are maintained in a clean and tidy manner
  • Customer Service & Quality:
  • • Ensure high levels of customer service and promote a positive image of IT Services and equipment.
  • • Identify problems and issues and respond to complaints or queries and where appropriate refer on to the appropriate supervisor.
  • • Comply with set quality standards and procedural instructions.
  • Finance & Security:
  • • Identify shortfall in stocks and consumables/basic equipment to ensure that adequate supplies and resources are maintained.
  • • Where it is identified as necessary handle cash/cash equivalents.
  • • Comply with college security, stock control, cash-handling procedures, standards and audit requirements.
  • • Comply with financial regulations within the IT services.
  • Generic duties:
  • Help to ensure through good working practices that the objectives, values and aims of IT Services and equipment and the college are achieved on time
  • To contribute fully to the mission and values statement of the College Group ensuring its effective implementation in all aspects of college life.
  • To take proactive responsibility for Health & Safety to ensure that a safe working environment and safe working practices are always maintained.
  • To comply with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).
  • To support cross college activities as required, such as organizing events or assisting with enrolment.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise


  • Experience of supporting complex enterprise level IT systems in a medium to large organisation.
  •  An understanding of Information security management and standards.
  •  Experience of maintaining vendor partnerships, ensuring that service provision is met and value is delivered.
  •  Experience of working with VMWare Horizons in the configuration and management of a virtualised environment.
  • Experience of hosting Microsoft Office 365.


  • Experience of administering and configuring backup systems to ensure business continuity via on premise or cloud-based solutions.
  • Appropriate level and context level 4 qualification suited to this role.
  •  A good technical knowledge of network equipment and infrastructures.
  •  Some knowledge of the Aruba (or similar) Wi-Fi controller.
  • Some experience of troubleshooting hardware such as routers, switches, hubs, modems, network interface cards etc.
  •  Good working knowledge of Legislative & Regulatory requirements.
  • . A qualification or knowledge of the ITIL standards for IT governance

Opened in 1992 after being formed from a number of colleges in the city we now have 5 locations situated in the heart of Liverpool. Currently the college serves more than a third of all 16-18 year olds in Liverpool, and educates almost 12,000 learners a year. In 2018 the college achieved a pass rate of 99.6% beating the national average of 97.6% for a-level results. Within this year as well we had a 100% pass rate in modern languages.

However, the college itself is not just facts and figures. The mission statement of provide high quality skills and education by delivering opportunities for growth to all people and business of the Liverpool City region, shows inclusivity and a community understanding. The ease in which to get here helps quite a lot to. Be it driving, buses, trains or even a ferry you are never short of options. 

Being that working/living in Liverpool does offer a wide range of experiences to have. Historical buildings like the Bombed out church, Royal court theatre house or even a hidden gem like the Bluecoat School lane which boasts being the oldest building in Liverpool. The Beatles museum is a popular place to explore the band and possible find bits out about them you might not have known. Or if just unwinding and relaxing there are multiple pubs/bars, restaurants, and comedy nights to enjoy.
