Our students…

Typically aspire to careers related to Equine, Veterinary Science, Environmental Science, Agriculture or Travel for example; though in practice also progress on to a host of other Level 3 pathways or careers. Our year 11 leavers move on to local college courses, A Levels in school sixth forms, apprenticeships’ or indeed employment.

Our progress

The Dorset Studio School progress score has consistently placed us among the better performing secondary schools in Dorset. Students often make more progress with us than is the case in many of the long established and much larger schools within the County. Dorset Studio School achieves the best Studio School progress scores south of London. We are an inclusive school. All students follow a demanding academic curriculum with the majority working towards nine GCSE qualifications. This is complemented with an incrementally phased work experience commitment allowing the students to develop both the soft and technical employability skills that they will need to be able to flourish in a competitive market. Our staff is extremely dedicated, caring, professional and innovative.

The role specifics

We are now looking to appoint a colleague who can bring additional expertise to our fantastic staff team. The successful candidate will be able to make a significant contribution to both our Key Stage three and four provision. They will be able to confidently prepare students for assessments, whilst also embedding the skills required to support successful and happy lives.  

This is a rare and exciting opportunity within a forward thinking school for a proactive and energetic individual to work with our experienced, friendly, supportive department. We are seeking someone with the ability to inspire students, to make the subject ‘come alive’ for them, whilst ensuring the continued development of standards and progress. Students work towards subject specific GCSE or vocational qualifications within an inspiring and diverse 750-acre campus.

Dorset Studio School is oversubscribed and is proud of its strong reputation. As an evolving and growing school, the range of appointments we make, and the skill set we look for is ever expanding.  Dorset Studio School

The Dorset Studio School opened in September 2014, welcoming students to a brand new specialist school designed to equip young people with the skills, knowledge and experience they require to succeed in work.

Dorset Studio School offers this new concept in education, where 11–16 year olds can benefit from a different model of learning that captures and channels potential to the highest levels. Dorset Studio School is an Academy and part of a national network of similar schools supported by the Studio Schools Trust.

In partnership with Kingston Maurward Agricultural College, young people have the opportunity to complete their 11-19 studies, within a fully operational, commercial environment, which provides hands on learning in the rural industries.

Located in Dorchester, in the heart of Dorset, the Studio School who specialise in environment and land-based sciences. The school  explores how the land works to deliver educational excellence and opportunity by making the most of our rich natural resources while responding to employer and wider community needs.

This school is ideally suited to young people who are passionate about and committed to developing the skills and qualifications required for careers in land and countryside management, animal conservation and welfare, outdoor activities, agriculture and food & horticulture.
