Job overview
We are seeking a capable, friendly and imaginative person to manage the facility, to help our drive to improve literacy across the curriculum and to work with staff and students to encourage a love of reading.
Responsible to the, the Librarian will be responsible for:
Using the library software system (Oliver) effectively to manage stock (issues/returns/overdues) and borrowers
Ordering appropriate stock and materials
Processing stock
Developing stock - maintaining the good selection of reading material on offer and identifying new materials needed
Reader Development:
Book Displays
Posters
Library activities
Reading initiatives
Engaging with readers and encouraging reading
Promoting library usage and encouraging good library practice
Overseeing break times in the library, and helping to establish booking system
Keeping library tidy and in good order
This post is part time, for 15 hours a week during term time. This is to be split over 5 days, as 3 hours a day, times to be flexible but working hours to cover both break times.
Previous experience of working in libraries, or working with children would be advantageous.
