Lower School 1:1 Teaching Assistant

ACS International Schools Cobham is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to join our Lower School teaching team to support a student 1:1, for an immediate start.

Overall Job Purpose:

Assist the pupil with SEND requirements to help them succeed in their learning environment

Support with academic, behavioural and social development while adhering to the IEP as established by the school.

Main Responsibilities:

Student Support:

• Provide direct assistance with completing academic tasks, including classroom activities, assignments, and testsImplement strategies and interventions outlined in the student’s IEP to support their goals.Assist the student in developing social skills and appropriate behaviour in a school settingProvide personal care assistance if required, including mobility support, toileting, and feeding as outlined in the student’s IEPMaintain regular communication with the student’s parents, teachers, and SEN staff to provide updates on the student’s progress and address any issues or concerns.

Classroom Assistance:

• Ensure the student’s safety and well-being throughout the school dayCollaborate with the classroom teacher to create a supportive learning environment tailored to students’ needsMonitor and document the student’s progress and behaviour, reporting any concerns to the appropriate school staff.

Work Schedule:

The 1-to-1 Teaching Assistant is required to work durian term time only when the student is present in school. The schedule may vary depending on the student’s attendance, school holidays, and other factors impacting the student’s presence at school.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Relevant experience with childrenBasic computer skills.

Start date: ASAP

Working hours: Monday – Friday, term time only, depending on the student’s attendance
