Are you an experienced Senior Leader with ambition and who can demonstrate success in raising teaching and learning standards?

There is an exciting opportunity at IJS&CE to be our next Manager of Remote Education. You will be joining a school that is extremely proud of its heritage and is at the heart of its community. Living and working overseas in this unique setting, you will be part of a team delivering the National Curriculum for England, enhanced by the local context including local History, the environment and our cultural heritage.

The successful applicant will lead and support a dedicated team of Settlement Teachers and Travelling Teachers who work across the Islands in remote teaching and learning settings, to provide an effective education to children who live in rural Falkland Islands. This will include travelling to the remote settings to support, coach, mentor and quality assure educational delivery - possibly one of the longest learning walks around! This is a senior leadership role which also includes whole school development responsibilities across the main school in the City of Stanley. 

Our well established and fully inclusive school, Infant Junior School & Camp Education, is seeking to recruit a motivated, enthusiastic and experienced Senior Leader to start in August 2025. The successful applicant will join a well-resourced school with a supportive staff team, small class sizes and students who are keen to learn.

We are seeking to recruit a Manager of Remote Education (Camp Education) who:

• is a graduate teacher with Qualified Teacher Status (recognisable in UK) who has completed the statutory induction year as an NQT and has 5 or more years’ experience teaching
• is an excellent classroom practitioner who can model excellent practice
• has at least 3 years school leadership and management experience in a whole school context and a proven record of school improvement
• is able to lead and efficiently manage staff to ensure that the quality of education; behaviour and attitudes; personal development; leadership and management at the Infant Junior School & Camp Education is continuously improving.
• has the ability to build effective working relationships, motivating and inspiring trust and confidence in others.
• can work positively and effectively with all external stakeholders to support school aims

Our school - Infant Junior School and Camp Education (IJS&CE)

The Infant Junior School and Camp Education (IJS&CE) has the unusual context of delivering education to all primary aged children who live in the Falkland Islands, there are 320 students on roll, aged from 3 to 11 years.

It is our aim that all students are supported to reach their potential and become happy, curious and well-rounded individuals with the knowledge and skills they need to be ready to move to our secondary provision at the Falkland Islands Community School, for the next stage of their educational career. Our students are at the centre of all that we do as a school.

Education is delivered through its modern primary school in the capital, Stanley, and to a small number of children who live in the rural areas of the Falkland Islands, via several small settlement schools and the travelling teacher service.

The Falkland Islands' education system is fully inclusive. The curriculum is based on the National Curriculum for England and applies similar teaching methods. An Executive Headteacher, Principal of Primary, and Principal of Secondary lead the Falkland Islands Schools. The schools have a staffing complement which includes a SENCo, senior leaders, middle leaders and a team of teachers and learning support assistants. Cross phase working supports curriculum development across the 3-16 age range.
