You’ll be supporting the delivery of the College and University Centre’s multi-channel student recruitment campaigns, using both digital and offline platforms, helping to ensure our communications channels are full of engaging content. You’ll have a keen eye for detail, a working knowledge of marketing communications techniques and platforms as well as experience of delivering marketing campaigns and copywriting. The primary purpose of this role is to assist in the planning, development and delivery of the college’s student recruitment marketing service with a specific focus on driving growth in numbers of adult learner numbers on our part-time courses, Access and Higher Education programmes and on our apprenticeship pathways. The successful candidate will play a significant part in achieving marketing objectives and proactively investigating student recruitment opportunities, devising and delivering high quality, multi-channel marketing campaigns and monitoring impact. Working as an integral part of the Marketing Team, the post-holder will also be required to support the delivery of presentations to external audiences and key recruitment events to ensure that the college’s recruitment targets are met. 


Key Responsibilities

  • To produce high quality marketing collateral for marketing courses to our key audiences with particular focus on our Access and Higher Education offer for 19+, apprenticeships for adult learners and adult learning opportunities generally.
  • To assist in generating engaging content for campaigns and for college publications.
  • To recognise and respond quickly to student recruitment marketing opportunities.
  • To demonstrably contribute to the planning, organisation and delivery of internal and external college events to maximise student recruitment.
  • To plan and deliver presentations on all adult learning opportunities at Hopwood Hall College.
  • To actively support the Head of Communications & Marketing to deliver all aspects of the College Marketing Strategy.
  • To take an active part in all College marketing activities including updating the college website and social channels.
  • To seek new opportunities to market the college and recruit students aged 19+.
  • To be familiar with college learner data systems. 
  • To assist on the production of high quality marketing collateral for recruitment activities and for all courses for 19+ applicants for all study areas at all levels.
  • To develop administrative processes to maximise efficiency, productivity and impact of the team.
  • To act as a Brand Ambassador providing advice and guidance ensuring brand consistency on all college marketing collateral.
  • To develop excellent relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • To carry out regular benchmarking of competitor marketing activity and report on this.
  • To work with departments across the college to proactively generate new and engaging copy.
  • To provide a proof reading service for all collateral.
  • To write copy and create content for different target audiences with clear call to actions.
  • To schedule content on social channels.
  • To take an active interest in best practice and new and innovative ways Marketing can improve reach or service.
  • To maintain an understanding of legislation such as GDPR.
  • To assist in the collation and submission of reporting content.
  • Ensure continuous development and improvement of personal professional knowledge.
  • Any other duties of a similar level of responsibility as may be required.

Hopwood Hall College is a further education college located in Rochdale, Greater Manchester. The college was first established in 1992, and since its founding has seen extensive redevelopment and modernisation, including the installation of a brand-new technology centre in 2012 which provides facilities for studying motor vehicle maintenance, engineering and brickwork. Although the college had previously contained its own sixth form centre, since 2010 Hopwood Hall has concentrated solely on vocational qualifications for school leavers, along with its extensive adult-education programmes. The college occupies two main sites, located close by to each other in Greater Manchester, each providing a range of high-quality teaching facilities.

Hopwood Hall College offers a huge range of subjects from entry-level courses up to foundation degrees, with part-time provision available for adult students looking to pursue their qualifications while working. In terms of younger students, Hopwood Hall begins accepting students at age 14, providing entry-level vocational qualifications and, potentially, apprenticeships for Key Stage 4 pupils looking to study outside of school. We have a purpose-built Salon, Restaurant and Technology Centre as well as extensive Sports and Animal Care facilities. Outside of study, the college also works hard to foster a sense of community among its students, playing host to a range of recreational common areas for students to relax and socialise.
