About the role

As a Midday Leader, you will play a pivotal role at Crayford Primary. You will have responsibility for all children during the lunchtime period and will foster the physical, social and emotional developments of our children, through planned play and provision within a caring, inclusive environment. Using a calm and caring approach, you will demonstrate fantastic meal time manners, encourage healthy eating and create a purposeful and inclusive learning environment.

Main responsibilities

•To interact positively and establish good relationships with all children and colleagues as necessary.

•To supervise creative, physical lunchtime activities/sports and promote a whole school approach to inclusive play and ensure children remain safe and well behaved

•To ensure that lunchtime provision is orderly and calm in the dining hall

•At all times to work within the school’s policies with regard to: Behaviour Management/Equal Opportunities/Safeguarding/Health & Safety/Anti-Bullying/Confidentiality.

•To be responsible for early years children during the lunch period in the playground/classrooms/dining hall

•To deal positively and consistently with behaviour issues at lunchtimes 

•To ensure children are supervised moving around the school in a quiet and controlled manner. 

•To assist the children where needed, encouraging all children to eat well, quietly and quickly.

•To be a role model for the children, talking to them calmly and politely

•To ensure the health and safety of pupils throughout the lunchtime period, on the playground and within the school building.

•To monitor behaviour to ensure safe and sensible play

•To ensure First Aid is given and actions are recorded in the First Aid book.

•To be responsible and supervise creative playground activities within a positive and fun environment, therefore motivating and encouraging children to participate in a sport or game activity

•To be able to work as part of a team with the lunchtime staff and liaise where necessary with members of the Senior Leadership Team

•To be committed to continuous professional development relevant to the post and personal training needs supporting future career advancement

•To undertake other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time commensurate with the grade of the post

General

•Promote equal opportunities and inclusion, addressing immediately should this fall short in their School

•Promote the school’s commitment to the continued professional development of all staff.

•Undertake any duties as may reasonably be required by the Principal or CEO.

•Work within the school’s framework with regard to Health and Safety.

•Be aware of and assume the appropriate level of responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

•Report any Safeguarding concerns in accordance with Trust Safeguarding Policy

About Haberdashers' Crayford Primary

Haberdashers’ Academies Trust South is a Multi-Academy trust of nine schools, (four secondary and five primary), supported by a professional learning arm.
