Job overview

Full time - term time only

Join our vibrant team at our leading co-educational Nursery and Prep School, serving children aged 3–11. Set on 19 acres of Surrey Countryside, we are conveniently situated just minutes from the A3. Ripley Court School boasts excellent facilities and expansive grounds that enhance our sports programs and provide ample space for children to play. Following our merger with The Reed's School Foundation in November 2019 and celebrating our 130th anniversary in 2023, we continue to grow and thrive. Our warm, family atmosphere and exceptional pastoral care is at the heart of what we do, and we invite you to become part of our outstanding team and contribute to our collective success.

We are currently looking to appoint a Nursery Practitioner who will act as a key person to a group of children within the Nursery and will assist the Nursery team to establish and maintain the social, intellectual, physical and emotional wellbeing of the children. The successful candidate will assist with providing appropriate, fun and stimulating experiences to encourage independence and child-initiated learning to take place.

This role will be based at Ripley Court School and the role-holder will be required to work between 8.00am and 4.15pm, Monday to Friday, during term time. The role-holder will also be required to cover some break, lunch and after school duties during the week, for which there is a rota and reasonable notice is given.

The successful candidate will ideally hold a Level 3 qualification and have previous experience of working with pre-school children (age 2 to 5 years) in an EYFS setting.

For Safer Recruitment purposes all applicants must complete a Reed’s and Ripley Court Schools application form.

Applicants are also welcome to submit supporting documents if desired. Full details including a job description and application form can be found on our website or alternatively by emailing hr@reeds.surrey.sch.uk

The closing date for applications will be midday, Wednesday 16 October 2024.

Interested applicants are encouraged to submit a completed application as soon as possible. The School reserves the right to interview and appoint before the closing date, should a suitable candidate present themselves.

Ripley Court School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The School may carry out online searches on shortlisted applicants and all applicants will be required to provide details of their online profiles, including social media account names/handles, as part of their application.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and Ripley Court School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.

Ripley Court is a fully co-educational school for 3 -11 year olds set in 20 beautiful acres just minutes from the A3 and equidistant from Cobham, Weybridge, Woking and Guildford. Ripley Court has for years been preparing children for entry to top independent schools. Its secret for success is to combine strong academic rigor with important but less-measurable values in life, such as kindness, respect, gentleness, and fun. The school has excellent performances in exams, senior school entries and scholarships as well as success in sports, music and art. Such achievements are important but each child’s happiness and well-being is valued more. Past pupils of all generations speak of a wonderful childhood at Ripley, being outdoors and having time to be children, but at the same time achieving highly in life.

Reed's School and Ripley Court School are committed to being a successful, caring and welcoming place for all employees. We want to create a supportive and inclusive environment where our employees can reach their full potential, without prejudice and discrimination. We are committed to a culture where respect and understanding is fostered and the diversity of people's backgrounds and circumstances will be positively valued.
