 Role: PA to Deputy Head Pastoral and Heads of Section

Hours: 40 hours per week (Term-Time plus one)

Salary: Competitive, based on experience

Reports to: Deputy Head Pastoral



Habs Boys' School is seeking a dedicated and efficient Personal Assistant to provide high-level administrative support to the Deputy Head Pastoral (DHP) and Heads of Section. This role is vital in ensuring the smooth operation of the pastoral and safeguarding teams, contributing to a positive and supportive school environment.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Manage diaries and schedule meetings for the DHP and Heads of Section.
  • Provide clerical support, including drafting letters to parents and writing up meeting notes.
  • Arrange parent meetings for the pastoral team.
  • Manage rewards and sanctions, including communicating with parents and supervising internal suspensions.
  • Create and manage assembly plans and form tutor plans in consultation with the DHP.
  • Ensure receipt and proper storage of safeguarding transfer notes for new students.
  • Liaise with primary schools for safeguarding and pastoral information.
  • Track and ensure staff completion of safeguarding training and annual KCSIE information and quiz.
  • Support the DHP in preparing information for governor reports and take minutes at relevant meetings.



Qualifications and Skills:

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in using administrative and database software.
  • Experience in a similar role within an educational setting is desirable.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

Haberdashers' Boys' School is a large independent school located in the village of Elstree, Hertfordshire. Founded in 1690, the all-through school educates around 1,200 boys aged 5-18, all of whom are day pupils.

The School has a selective admissions policy, with prospective students for the senior school expected to pass entrance exams across a range of subjects. The best-performing boys are interviewed to ascertain their suitability for a place at the School. Entrance to the pre-prep and prep departments is also selective, with assessed playgroup sessions and exams used depending on the boy’s age.
