We are seeking a dedicated and qualified Physical Education (PE) Teacher to join our team and work specifically with our vulnerable pupils. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in physical education and sports, coupled with significant experience in supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. This position is crucial in creating a safe and inclusive environment where all pupils can thrive.

The selected individual will be responsible for designing engaging and adaptive physical activities that not only promote physical fitness but also foster emotional resilience and social skills.

The Complete Education Solution (TCES)

TCES is an independent social enterprise. providing specialist therapeutic education based in London. We support exceptional neurodiverse children and young people aged 7 to 19 who have special educational needs and disabilities typically associated with autism, social emotional and mental health needs and associated disorders. Most of them will have experienced multiple placement breakdowns and significant trauma, often resulting in behaviour that challenges. On average pupils will have been excluded from other provisions up to three times before reaching us and had significant periods out of education.

TCES pupils learn at one of our two independent day schools in London, within our Create Service or our National Online School; Create in the Community and Create Learning Primary support our most complex and vulnerable pupils, with TCES East London and TCES North West London supporting those who are able to access learning within a school environment. When they are ready, we aim for pupils to step down from Create into one of our main schools or TCES Sixth Form.

Essential requirements to be successful in the role are:

  • Resilient and robust, role modelling outstanding professionalism.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (holding QTS, QTLS or equivalent) with relevant SEND experience.
  • Substantial demonstrable experience in providing differentiated, engaging learning opportunities and therapeutic interventions for individuals and small classes with a variety of complex needs, including social, emotional and mental health needs & school avoidance, using a primary model of teaching.
  • Proven skills actively engaging young people with complex needs and neurodiversity, supporting their development in independence, healthy relationship building and emotional regulation.
  • Organised with attention to detail.
  • Proactive and innovative, collaborating with team members in other disciplines, whilst also with the ability to work flexibly and independently.
