We is looking to appoint an experienced and inspirational female PE and Games Teacher to join our team in August 2025. The successful candidate will join an established team which has created considerable success within the region over the last 4 years and will be responsible for delivering high quality Physical Education lessons and games coaching units. Experience of the UK independent school sports model (or similar) will be advantageous. The successful candidate will be experienced in delivering outstanding physical education lessons - Primary or Prep School experience would be an advantage. Experience in one or more of our focus sports: netball, football, swimming, athletics and/or basketball, and the ability to lead teams in these sports, is essential for this role.
The sports and PE department is a collaborative and high-performing unit, accessing state-of-the-art facilities, quality resourcing and training. They work with engaging, capable and enthusiastic students across the school and have great support from parents. Accessing the Dubai Schools Sports Association for multiple fixtures, competitions and tournaments the team also work with a number of sport scholars who enter the programme in Key Stage 3.
Key Job Accountabilities:
• To ensure the curriculum is delivered in a clear, exciting and challenging way that meets the needs of individual pupils.
• To have responsibility and accountability for standards, expectations, planning for and assessment for timetabled classes.
• Actively engage in Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
• To be a positive team member, share and work collaboratively for the benefit of teaching and learning within the Physical Education team and the school as a whole.
• To foster the development of a positive and supportive ethos for academic progress and social development.
• To contribute and participate in school events.
• To demonstrate a clear appreciation of the importance of parents, children, staff and governors as key stakeholders.
• To uphold and demonstrate the ‘Arcadia Values’ in all dealings with children, parents, governors, other staff and visitors to the school and when visiting other schools.
• To display a high standard of professional behaviour and integrity at all times, adhering to the line management structure whilst contributing to professional teams.
• To actively support the aims and endeavours of The Arcadia School.
• To be fully aware of the UAE National Agenda Targets for education and the Dubai Schools Inspection Bureau framework.
• To proactively support and contribute to initiatives and curriculum enhancements.
• To work within agreed timeframes and deadlines.
• Manage a wide range of teams in fixtures across the working week and during weekends / holidays as required.
• Ensure fair team selection, promoting good sporting behaviour and conduct.
• Contribute to the social media accounts and liaise with the marketing department to celebrate success.
Our ideal candidate will have:
• A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Sports Science or equivalent.
• Fully qualified teacher holding BEd, MEd, PGCE, QTS or equivalent in Physical Education from one of the UK Universities.
• Minimum of 2 years experience of teaching Physical Education.
• Sound working knowledge of the National Primary Curriculum for England and current matters pertaining to pedagogy.
• The ability to coach in one or more of our focus sports; netball, football, swimming, athletics and/or basketball is essential for this role.
• Understanding of a games and sport based approach to learning.
• Proven track record of outstanding teaching and learning.
• Committed professionals who are dedicated to raising standards in alignment with the schools vision, mission and values.
• Professionals prepared to teach all or part of the A Level Physical Education Qualification.
• Knowledge and ability to coach sport(s) to a high level.
• Teachers with the capability to teach curricular swimming.
• The ability to be open and adaptable to changing circumstances.
• Have strong interpersonal skills and clear communication with parents and team members.
• A natural desire to learn, contribute to and participate in the school's Professional Learning Community.
• Skilled at using digital tools to ensure that learning is enriched and relevant to complement the schools ‘Apple Distinguished School’ status.
• A professional who works positively and collaboratively within the immediate team and across the wider school community.
Candidates who successfully reach the short-list will be asked to complete a task relevant to the role with a full interview with key leaders. Where possible, this will be in-person.
