LICS is currently seeking a dynamic, innovative, inspirational, and suitably qualified individual to join the team as a Primary School Vice Principal from 1st August 2025.
1. Requirements
● Leadership knowledge, understanding, and skills

2. Qualifications and experience
● BEd / BA (QTS) / PGCE or equivalent with leadership training
● Experience as part of a Senior Leadership team would be an advantage
● Experience with one-to-one devices in Primary classrooms advantageous
● Academic experience in a Cambridge Assessment International Education School
● Proven respectful communication skills with diverse cultural school community
● Proven skills/record in management of a department/area in an international school
● Proven track record of management of pedagogy, curriculum, student progress and assessment
● Knowledge and experience in student tracking and data analysis
● Excellent IT skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams within Microsoft Office 365
● Ability to Teach ICT and Literacy will be an added advantage
3. Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities
3.1 Curriculum
● Oversee the quality and relevance of the curriculum, updating termly and annually
● Know CAIE curriculum and assessment development and communicate this to faculty
● Promote IT use to enhance teaching and learning in collaboration with ICT Specialists and ICT Team
3.2 Tracking and Assessment
● Lead the tracking, analysing, and monitoring of learners’ attainment and progress using iSAMS
● Triangulate data from class teachers, DSL, and Student Support Services to gain a full picture of each learner through regular meetings
● Take responsibility for Cambridge Checkpoint examination entries, timetables, invigilation training and rosters, seating plans, access arrangement documentation, and communicate results to teachers, SLT, and the Board
● Coordinate learner awards and certificates for assemblies and awards ceremonies
3.3 Appraisals
● With the Primary School Principal, oversee performance management of all academic staff
● Support new staff and guide them through the probationary period/procedure
● Take full responsibility for the Teaching Assistant appraisal system
3.4 Reporting, policies, and communication
● Compose, review and monitor all Primary School academic policies
● Be responsible, directed by the Primary School Principal, for updating the academic/curriculum sections of the school’s Self Evaluation Form; preparing for CIS or any other inspection
● Promote effective curriculum transition between LICS Pre-Primary, Primary and Secondary School
● Assist the Primary School Principal in the recruitment and appointment of staff
● Coordinate the Primary School timetable, liaising with relevant school departments
● Actively coordinate, contribute to, and update the PS calendar on iSAMS on a termly bas
3.5 Line Management, Staff Development, and Training
● Line manage Key Stage Leaders, supported by the Primary School Principal
● Oversee the work of the Student Support Services in liaison with the Head of SSS to ensure learning needs are met and students receive appropriate support
● Line manage all TAs and contribute to their CPD
● Where necessary, lead on staff development and training
● Support all staff through modeling excellent practice: teaching, carrying out duties, offering afternoon activities
3.6 Special Tasks/Goals
● Plan, evaluate, and adjust the Afternoon Activities programme termly in liaison with the Activity Coordinator, LAA, and Sports Department
● Contribute to and attend online and in-person meetings with community members, as required
● Research current international standards to update the Primary curriculum and practice
● Effectively and respectfully manage conflict within the work environment in Primary School
● Coordinate House Captains and Student Councillors weekly and for school events.

LICS, (Lusaka International Community School), is a dynamic international teaching and learning Pre-K through to A Level School. As a CIE school (Cambridge Assessment International Education), we offer Checkpoint at Year 6 & 9, IGCSE, AS and AL assessments.
LICS is located in the leafy suburb of Roma, Lusaka, and offers a beautiful and secure campus with some of the best facilities in Zambia, including a multi-purpose astro turf, heated swimming pool, theatre, computer suites, science laboratories and bespoke art studio in the secondary school.
In terms of student enrolment, our school offers a caring community atmosphere. We have a beautiful campus, with about 600 learners across the three schools; such is the structure of our facilities and the dynamics of our school.
