Job overview

Main Duties/Responsibilities

·     Respond to Progress Leader requests and prioritise effectively.

·     Deal with student queries and respond as appropriate in a supportive manner, complying with school policy. 

·     Make contact with home regarding incidents, pastoral concerns, meetings etc. 

·     Support Progress Leaders in the organisation surrounding student rewards and consequences.  

·     Support college expectations of behaviour, uniform and attendance.  

·     Liaise as necessary with whole school teams/department staff.  

·     Support Progress Leaders in collecting statements following student incidents.  

·     Support Progress Leaders and the Attendance Lead in improving attendance.  

·     To support Progress Leaders in managing in-year admissions. 

·     To ensure that there is appropriate support in place for students experiencing bullying and friendship ‘fall out’ issues. 

·     To contribute to the smooth running of the college on a day to day basis, including maintaining a high profile in the corridors between lessons, breaks and after college in addition to taking a share in routine duties and out of hours events.

·     To contribute to the efficient organisation of assemblies, including termly celebration assemblies. 

·     In addition, carry out other duties as reasonably required by the Principal. 

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING  

·       The ability to work confidentially and deal with sensitive issues.  

·       The ability to promote effective safeguarding and welfare of students. 

·       The ability to communicate effectively with staff, parents, students and outside agencies. 

·       The ability to work in a team but also independently, taking initiative where necessary. 

·       A sympathetic but firm manner is required to ensure students feel supported whilst at college. 

ADMINISTRATION

·       Operate relevant equipment/ICT packages (e.g. MS Office, internet, intranet, E-mail, Arbor)
