Qatar Academy Doha is seeking a PYP Coordinator to join our collaborative and vibrant teaching team for the 2025-26 school year.
We are seeking a passionate, enthusiastic PYP Coordinator to join our collaborative and vibrant teaching team starting in August 2025.
Primary Responsibilities
General
● ensure curriculum documentation is up to date, including POI, unit planners, ATL continuums, PDPs, Professional Development Tracker etc.
● ensure that copies of IB publications pertaining to the PYP section of the school are available to all staff members and that all staff members have access to MyIB
● lead the school’s process of developing and reviewing scope and sequence documents in relation to standards and other curriculum documents in collaboration with Curriculum Coordinator for alignment
● prepare and submit any documentation required for authorization and evaluation
● maintain communication between the school and the IB
● provide outreach to the wider PYP community through collaboration with other schools within QIBA or the larger IB community (attendance of all relevant events with the aim to update stakeholders of relevant ideas & initiatives
● coordinate with other IB coordinators in different sections of the school to ensure continuity of the programmes (ie: Arabic Lead, AAC, MYPC and DPxC)
● coordinate with other school coordinators for implementation of standards (AERO, Arabic, Ministry, etc.) within the POI
● ensure that curriculum-related parent meetings and workshop opportunities are provided
● be an active part of the Pedagogical Leadership Team and provide feedback about the progress and development of the PYP; facilitate PL meetings as needed
● participate in PUE professional learning communities or committees regarding the PYP
● play a full part in the life of the school, including attendance at staff meetings, assemblies, evening events, camps, etc.
● continue to acquire professional knowledge of current best practice in the educational field by attending seminars and workshops or by conducting research
Student Performance
● Lead in planning and facilitating the Grade 5 PYP Student Exhibition in collaboration with Grade Lead, APs, PUE Comms, and specialist teachers
● identify resources in the community that may contribute to units of inquiry
● teach part-time and/or provide duty coverage as needed
● provide teaching cover for absent staff when needed
Staffing & Training
● support implementation of PYP best practices & international mindedness in classrooms through modeling and co-planning of UOI lessons and units
● perform classroom observations and walkthroughs to assess and support elements of teaching and learning specific to the programme
● Mentor, coach and at times, co-teach important concepts to model how planning can take life in the classroom.
● support specialist teachers in their unique roles as they deliver the PYP by ensuring collaborative inclusion of specialist content & PYP integration or separation when needed.
● Support and mentor new PYP teachers in the classroom, including onboarding workshops/development
● Support teams through regular planning meetings and provide learning engagement input and feedback for PYP teachers on units of inquiry as requested and when possible
● oversee the review of the Programme of Inquiry with staff on an annual basis
● in consultation with school leadership, identify areas for professional development, and plan internal (PLC) and external workshops accordingly. Coordinate with Curriculum Coordinator to ensure PD bookings with EDI are relevant and timely
Secondary Responsibilities
● help with the everyday operations of the school
● plan and execute school events when needed, including maintaining budget and acquisitions as necessary (secondary)
● participate in recruitment, interviews, and selection of new staff as needed (secondary)
my suggestion is adding a bullet point along the lines of 'bringing the PYP elements to life in both English and Arabic in line with our Dual Language model' - phrased better, of course, yet I believe the ideal scenario would be for our school to be 'PYP-rich' in all lessons, in all hoemrooms, in both languages, efficiently and seamlessly. Ideally, the candidate should be fluent in Arabic too..
• Be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons according to PUE and regulatory safeguarding requirements including but not limited to the provisions of the PUE Child Protection Policy
He / She would also be a part of the largest school in the QF family with over 1713 students, Qatar Academy Doha (QAD) is organized into Primary and Senior School divisions.

Qualifications & Experience:
-Bachelor’s degree in education-related field or relevant subject matter; Master’s preferred
-6-8 years of classroom teaching experience with 3 years of IB teaching experience and experiential learning is a must.
-Thorough knowledge of IB procedures and the IB PYP program
-Experience in the development of curriculum and assessment Recent and relevant professional development
-Detail-oriented with strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills ; Excellent writing skills – ability to draft / edit a variety of written reports and communications and articulate ideas clearly and concisely; proficiency in Arabic a plus
-Must have attested teaching certification or PGCE equivalent credentials
-Teaching Certification / Bachelor’s Degree (must be a face-to-face qualification - online qualifications are not recognised by Qatar).
-Teaching couples must be married as per Qatari work visa requirements.
-Clear criminal record and background check.
-Clear medical history for HIV, Hepatitis B and C, and Tuberculosis.

Teaching information
