Job overview

Pembroke House is a traditional, full-boarding, coeducational IAPS school of roughly 240 pupils aged 6 months to 13 years, set in the Rift Valley, Kenya. The school has a reputation for providing an outstanding all-round education with a quality of pastoral care that is second to none. Whilst known traditionally for its sporting achievements, academic standards at Pembroke House are high and all pupils are prepared for 13+ Common Entrance or scholarship examinations. The majority of children move on to schools in the UK and in recent years an impressive number of awards have been won – including academic, sport, art, drama and all-round scholarships.

The School Admissions Registrar is responsible for overseeing the internal admissions process of the school and serving as the face of the school to prospective students, families and agents. This requires a strong understanding of the school's mission, values, and academic programmes, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. This high-profile role maintains the positive and professional public image of the school, ensuring that all interactions with prospective families, agents and other visitors are handled with the utmost care and attention.

They will also play a crucial role in the Marketing and Communications department, and in promoting Pembroke House School to current and prospective parents and students, prospective staff, feeder schools, the local community and the wider public to encourage engagement with the school.

The successful applicant will work on all aspects of the International and Local Marketing & Communications Strategy. They will arrange various events and open days and will be involved in any marketing related occasions. They will work closely with the schools’ marketing and communications consultants to implement the required developments.

The School Registrar is expected to have a whole school approach and ensure that they understand the importance of school events in relation to termly activities. They will also be expected to attend whole school events to gain a thorough understanding of the academic and pastoral experiences that pupils can expect when coming to Pembroke House. A sound understanding of boarding, overseas recruitment, SEN and a broad ability level curriculum would be an advantage.

The School Registrar will have a high level of accountability with the key measures of success being measured against the number of new enquiries generated, the number of parent visits and registrations and the flow of pupils between the individual year groups.

This is a full-time post and as such you are accountable to the Head and the Bursar, who should be kept informed of all progress and affairs at school.

Potential applicants should request a job description, application form and supporting documentation by email from recruitment@pembrokehouse.sc.ke whence any further information regarding the post may also be obtained.

The application form is also available on the Pembroke House website.

All shortlisted applicants will be contacted within 14 days of the closing date of the advert. Due to the sheer number of applications that we receive we are unable to contact any applicants who are not shortlisted.
