Job overview

Our new Nurse / Paramedic will provide high quality healthcare to the whole school community.

The successful candidate will work in accordance with their professional body to maintain the excellent standard of healthcare at Stamford School . Thy will be responsible for providing support and advice to all members of the school community, as well as treating pupils and members of staff where appropriate. Understandably, this role will require high levels of confidentially so must adhere to the school's strict confidentiality policy, and pay close attention to data protection guidance to maintain every individual's personal information. We have two positions available. This includes a full time and part time role. The full time role will include Monday-Friday work, while the part time role will be 2 days per week with one of the days being a Saturday.

This clinical role will include, maintaining a safe environment, providing confidential health advice and treatments, supporting mental health, working with parents to promote good parenting, updating the 'need to know' lists, maintaining clinical equipment, and adherence to the school's safeguarding policies and procedures.

The post-holder will be directly involved in the administration of healthcare to boarders whilst they are ill and off school for the day. It will be essential to maintain all boarders' NHS records, as well as liaise with boarding house staff on the needs of pupils.

Further responsibilities of this position will include, maintaining an up to date relevant qualification, working with boarding house staff to maintain medical stocks, working with trip leaders to ensure the appropriate risk assessments are complete, assisting the administration of staff-first aid/medicine administration training and enabling the ability to provide an on-call first aid service for the whole school community. This will also include providing first aid cover for home sporting fixtures every Saturday during term time, as well as on sports days and concerts.

The Nurse / Paramedic will help coordinate the school immunisation programme, as well as keep up to date on all relevant administration.

Desired Criteria

  • Up to date First Aid at Work qualification - Willingness to undertake this training is essential.
  • ENB998 or equivalent.
  • Post registration training.
  • Knowledge of national school immunisation programs.
  • Experience with working with children and families.
  • Sports injury training.
  • Some experience in occupational health and infection control.

Essential Criteria

  • Appropriate professional qualification.
  • Evidence of commitment to continuing personal and professional development.
  • Appropriate professional body registration.
  • High standard of clinical work and decision making.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills , particularly the ability to relate to young people and parents.
  • Excellent IT and organisational skills.
  • Experience in treatment of any of the following: Sporting injuries, Orthopaedics, Minor illness, Accident and Emergency, Practice Health Nursing, School Health Nursing, Paediatric Nursing, Ears Nose and Throat Nursing.
  • Understanding of acute and chronic medical conditions.
  • Assessment of minor illness.
  • Assessment of injuries.
  • Awareness and understanding of child safeguarding issues.• Ability to remain calm and decisive in stressful situations.
