Job overview

Orchardside School is a purpose built pupil referral unit for young people aged 11-16 who are at risk of or have been permanently excluded from mainstream school. We believe that all children, whatever their starting point, have the right to be heard, understood and to be hopeful of their future. We are seeking a passionate, skilled, and driven School Therapist to join our supportive school community and make a real difference in the lives of our students.

Do you want to help students navigate the challenges of school and life, providing essential therapy and emotional support. Join a team of educators and professionals who are enthusiastic about fostering a healthy, inclusive school culture. Experience a fulfilling job with hours that allow you to focus on both your career and personal life and enjoy the autonomy to design and shape your own therapeutic service.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is a qualified BACP registered therapist, with experience of working in schools.
  • Is enthusiastic about children's progress and achievement.
  • Has excellent pastoral skills and empathy, particularly in developing effective working relationships in supporting children who have behavioural, learning, emotional and social difficulties.
  • Has a belief and interest in Trauma Informed Practice.
  • Can re-motivate and enthuse students to enable them to make progress in all areas of their lives.
  • Is able to work as part of a team, sharing excellent practice and learning from others.
  • Is hardworking and has the ability to build strong relationships with students, parents/carers and staff alike.
  • Is committed to the moral, social, cultural and spiritual development of children.
  • Has resilience and a well developed sense of humour.

If this sounds like the job for you we would love to hear from you. Do not hesitate to contact us for a visit or an informal discussion over the phone.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Prior to appointment, the successful applicant will be required to pass our vetting checks including social media checks and an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service. If you have lived abroad, you will need to provide an overseas criminal record.
