Position: Science Technician Assistant
Responsible To: Senior Science Technician and Chemistry Technician
The core function of the role is to provide support to the work of the Chemistry Technicians and Biology and Physics Technicians when required.
Duties Include:
- Always meeting current health and safety standards.
- Putting out/setting up practical equipment.
- Maintaining, repairing apparatus.
- Clearing away practical sessions and making solutions.
- Ensuring the prep room and classroom are tidy and free of clutter.
- Washing up and cleaning.
- Using CLEAPSS and LABLOGGER.
- Ordering consumables and equipment when required.
- Supporting the overall work of the Science Department.
Required Skills, Qualifications and Personal Qualities:
- Interest in Science and keen learner.
- Good communication skills.
- Good organisational skills.
- Good IT skills as use of Word and Excel is needed.
- Ability to prioritise tasks.
- Physically fit able to stand for long periods.
- Hard working, approachable and able to work well within a team.
- Have a good sense of humour.
