The school is looking to appoint a science technician to join our four-person team supporting the science department. Our science department combines the teaching of physics, biology and chemistry, an arrangement that encourages and develops a collaborative approach to teaching, learning and co-curricular opportunities across the sciences.
Ideally, our preferred candidate will have a chemistry background, either in schools or in another laboratory setting. Or you may have knowledge of other sciences and be ready for a new challenge with supportive training.
The science technician will be responsible for coordinating and organising practical resources, including equipment and chemicals, and support the teachers in the science department, as well as management of equipment and supplies.
This is a permanent, term time only position for 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 4.30pm). You will be expected to work the 35 weeks of St Swithun’s term time (including staff training days) plus 6 days in the school holidays each year.

St Swithun’s Senior School is an independent, Church of England, 11-18, day and boarding girls’ school, situated in Winchester in Hampshire. The school, which has approximately 520 girls on its roll, is a registered charity and is governed by the school council.
In 1884, seventeen pupils began attending Winchester High School. The pupil population then grew to over 60 and the school began to take day pupils and boarders. Its name was changed to Winchester Girls’ School in 1909 and then, after World War I, to St Swithun’s School.
