About us and the role

Avanti Schools Trust is looking for a dedicated and experienced SCITT Lead Mentor to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in developing and supporting trainee teachers, ensuring they receive the best phase-specific training and mentorship. This role involves working closely with school-based mentors, delivering high-quality training sessions, and guiding trainees towards achieving Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

What will you do?

  • Provide high-quality, phase-specific development and support to a portfolio of trainees in Avanti Schools Trust schools.
  • Assist mentors with effective observations, feedback, and instructional coaching to improve trainees' classroom practices.
  • Teach core and foundation subject sessions both online and in-person.
  • Ensure trainees meet the core requirements for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

What are we looking for?

  • QTS qualified
  • Excellent classroom pedagogy
  • Good understanding of the Teachers' Standards and Core Content Framework
  • Some experience of developing, mentoring, and coaching trainee teachers within an ITT route (e.g., PGCE, Schools Direct, Teach First).
  • Experience developing the practice of other qualified teachers
