The Island Private School of Limassol in Cyprus, which first opened its doors to 500 students in September 2022, is currently seeking passionate, experienced, and competent professionals to join our team.
As we grow, we are in the process of planning our new school campus on a beautiful 50,000 m2 site to be completed approximately by end of 2025, that will include kindergartens, elementary and high schools, an international boarding school, and accommodation for teachers. Now we have exciting opportunities available for a Secondary EAL (English as an Additional Language) Teacher for the current academic year. The successful candidate will support non-native level English-speaking students in developing their English language proficiency, enabling them to access the school curriculum and thrive in both academic and social settings. The role requires an educator with a passion for language teaching and a strong commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality EAL lessons tailored to the individual needs of students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
- Provide support to students across various levels of English proficiency, from beginners to more advanced learners.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure that EAL students are supported in all areas of the curriculum.
- Develop and implement effective teaching strategies that enhance students' reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills in English.
- Conduct regular assessments to track student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly.
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes student engagement and confidence in using English.
- Offer one-on-one or small group language intervention as necessary to support student development.
- Collaborate with parents and caregivers to communicate student progress and strategies for language development at home.
- Participate in school-wide activities, meetings, and professional development opportunities to continuously improve teaching practices.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and provide regular reports to the Head of EAL and other relevant staff members.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, English, TESOL/TEFL/CELTA, or a related field.
- A recognized teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS or equivalent) is an advantage.
- More than 3 years of experience teaching EAL in a secondary school.
- Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction to meet the varying needs of EAL students.
- Experience in using various assessments and data to track and improve student progress.
- Strong knowledge of English language development and how children acquire language skills.
- Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to create a nurturing and inclusive environment.
- Proficiency in integrating technology into teaching to enhance language learning.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team of educators and support staff.
- Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment and in conditions of uncertainty.
- Culturally responsive teaching practices and the ability to work with a diverse student population.
- Experience working in international schools or multilingual environments is an advantage.

Our Campus
Currently we are operating in a temporary campus, opened in September 2022 which includes 3 areas: Pre-Primary, Primary and Secondary School as well as outdoor sport courts, playgrounds, canteen, 2 art studios, 2 music rooms and 2 libraries.

Drawing inspiration from renowned educational projects worldwide and working in collaboration with one of the leading architectural bureaus, we are about to shape the future of our school.
