Cambridge House British International School is a highly distinguished British international school and was the first in Spain to gain both BSO (British School Overseas) and NABSS (National Association for British Schools in Spain) accreditation. 

Founded more than 30 years ago in Valencia (East Spain), this progressive school with strong family values and delivering the English National Curriculum now has 1,700 students and has evolved to meet the needs of modern learners. Students aged three to 18 attend the school and follow the National English Early Years Framework and the English National Curriculum. Year 12 and 13 students take A-levels and gain accreditation for the Spanish Baccalaureate and can also choose to follow a Higher National Diploma (HND) route, providing vocational pathways. 

We wish to recruit an enthusiastic and dynamic SEN Learning Support Assistant to join our successful and expanding school. The successful applicant will be able to support SEN students across the secondary age and ability range. A SEN LSA works under the guidance of SEN teaching staff to support learning for students on SEN register. LSAs ensure that students are safe at school and carry out day to day administration tasks as guided by the teacher and in line with school policy. REQUIREMENTS

• Relevant training experience that supports working with children in an educational setting.

• Experience of working with children with learning difficulties.

• Proficient level of English (Mother tongue / C2)

• Ability to monitor a child's response to learning activities and modify or adapt the activities to achieve the intended learning outcome.

• ability to demonstrate active listening skills and strong verbal communication skills, building positive relationships with children and understanding their needs.

• Reliable with an attention to detail and a commitment to quality

• Excellent organisational, interpersonal and time-management skills

• Basic IT skills in Microsoft Office software such as Word, PowerPoint and Excel


RESPONSIBILITIES

• Deliver learning activities planned by the SEN teacher to groups of children within their classroom or in withdrawn sessions.

• Establish trusting relationships with children and interact with them according to individual needs and personalities.

• Encourage children to interact and engage in activities.

• Provide verbal feedback to children and SEN teachers on achievement, progress and any problems that arise.

• Create and maintain an orderly and supportive environment, undertaking administrative tasks as needed and as directed by the Inclusion team. Administrative tasks can include, but are not limited to preparing resources, creating displays and updating documents. 

• Promote good conduct encouraging children to take responsibility for their behaviour following the school behaviour policy and expectations.

• Prepare resources supported by the teacher required for learning activities and assist children in their use as directed by the teacher.

• Uphold all school policies, including procedures relating to safeguarding, including child protection and data protection.

• Supervise or support SEN pupils before school, at break times, after school and on school trips as required.

• Undertake any necessary training when required. (e.g. safeguarding and health and safety training)

For over thirty-five years, Cambridge House has offered an excellent education to Spanish and international students.
