Job overview

Willoughby Road Primary Academy are looking to appoint a SEN Support Assistant for 30 hours per week, term time only to join the academy as soon as possible. The role will be varied and will involve supporting at a whole class level, leading small groups as well as working on a 1:1 basis where needed.

The position is linked to EHCP funding and will initially be to support the EYFS setting ensuring the children are accessing the curriculum and developing their understanding, whilst providing the support for their emotional wellbeing and individual needs. The role however will evolve and change as the children progress through the school. The fixed term contract will end when the children move onto their next phase of education, or they leave year 6 in July 2031 whichever is sooner.

Your new role

As an SEN Support Assistant, you will provide one to one personal support for pupils with additional needs who are in receipt of an Education Health Care Plan. You will provide special educational and/or medical support to ensure their successful engagement with and access to learning. You will need to maintain professional records and appropriate notes in relation to the individual pupil.

Willoughby Road Primary Academy is located in Scunthorpe and we are a two form entry school with approximately 335 children. The academy strongly believes in giving individual attention to the needs of the children in our care. We have shown an improvement in outcomes at the end of KS2 throughout the last 3 years. Our latest Ofsted report (June 2019) shows we are good in all areas and commented positively on our strong leadership and good behaviour of our pupils.
