About Parkstone Grammar School
Parkstone Grammar School is a girls’ selective school of some 1250 students from 11 – 18, of whom over 350 are in the Sixth Form. Opened in Ashley Cross, Parkstone in 1905, the school moved to its present green-field site in 1961.
The buildings are modern and pleasant, with grounds which extend to almost twenty acres. Since 1961 the school has benefitted from additional buildings and modernisation ensuring the school has excellent, well-equipped facilities.
In September 2015 we opened a new state of the art Sixth Form block housing learning, teaching and social space including cutting edge technology. As part of this development we landscaped a fantastic outside social space and re-modelled a Drama Studio and created additional Music space.
We have a vibrant Language Centre as well as a highly-resourced Music Department, together with numerous Music practice rooms, fully equipped modern Science laboratories and a Drama Studio built to professional standards. Additionally, our wonderful new Art, Maths and Technology block offers bright, modern and well-resourced facilities contributing to our overall first-class teaching and learning environment.
Our Library\Learning Resource Centre has the latest information retrieval systems and an excellent selection of reference and fiction materials. It also has a dedicated Sixth Form area with its own computer suite which provides a quiet, private study area for our Sixth Form students.
We are very proud of our Lecture Theatre – a state of the art building equipped with an interactive whiteboard, DVD, video and sound system. It also boasts an impressive seating system that can be folded in or out, dependent on individual requirements. This is the ideal venue not just for specific teaching, but also for hosting the many lectures from outside speakers that students at Parkstone enjoy.
We have a well- equipped fitness centre and gymnasium, together with an extraordinary Sports Hall – a wonderful, flexible sporting facility that is enjoyed by both the students and the local community.
Our recently extended dining facility has further enhanced the students’ experience at the school providing a comfortable and sociable dining environment. This modern, stylish area also benefits the Sixth Form students as an additional venue to use during personal study periods.
