This is a full-time position.

Salary: Outer London MPS/UPS plus TLR £3,391

We are seeking to appoint someone who will:

• Be a qualified SENCO with experience

• Have an excellent understanding of how to support and develop children with a diverse range of needs and a proven track record as a successful teacher

• Lead, manage and motivate others

• Support the aims and ethos of our Catholic school.

• Think, plan and act strategically

• Develop strong working relationships with all stakeholders

• Has a secure understanding of SEND practice in Croydon and other local Boroughs

• Have a secure understanding about the ECHP and Locality funding processes


The SENDCo, under the direction of the Headteacher/Inclusion Leader will:

• Determine the strategic development of special educational needs (SEN) policy and provision within our school 

• Be responsible for day-to-day operation of the SEN policy and co-ordination of specific provision to support individual pupils with SEN or a disability in line with SEND legislation

• Provide professional guidance to colleagues, working closely with staff, external professionals, parents and other agencies (this includes support of the residential care needs and working holistically)

• The SENCO will also be expected to fulfil the professional responsibilities of a teacher, as set out in

the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document.

• Evaluate the progress and attainment data of SEND pupils, understanding and mapping the necessary interventions to meet the needs of the children

• Deliver interventions to targeted pupils

• Supporting staff in understanding and planning for the needs of SEND children

• Stay abreast of leading SEND practice and deliver staff PDMS/training 

• Report to the Headteacher in all SEND and child protection matters

• Performance managing staff

• Participating in pupil progress meetings
