A rare opportunity has arisen for an expert, inspirational and enthusiastic SENDCo to join our Learning Support department at Upton House School.

We are an independent town school in Windsor. The school has been running since 1936. We value each and every member of our staff team and recognise that people can bring different ideas and suggestions all of which are equally valued. We view our team members as our extended family and most of our staff have worked with the school for many years.
Responsibilities
We are looking to appoint a passionate and experienced SENDCo with a proven track record to join our Learning Support department and provide high quality tuition to our SEND pupils.
As a member of the school’s SLT the successful candidate will lead and develop the Learning Support Department, collaborating with staff throughout the school to ensure pupils needs are met effectively, contributing to the whole-school strategic planning and decision-making.
There are three main aspects to the role; Leadership and Management, Pupil Support and Intervention, and Communication and Collaboration. All of which are important to making this role a success.
As SENDCo the role focusses not only on making sure all the pupils have the right things in place to support them, but also making sure that staff are aware and involved in those journey’s for the children in their care, this includes making sure that staff training is in place and up to date and that staff are aware of what they need when it comes to individual children. The role is there to assess what’s currently in place and to continue to develop and improve the provision that we have in place. This also includes making sure that we are taking the parents on the journey with us and their children so we can all work together, along with making sure all the right assessments, accommodations and documentation is in place.

What we are looking for
The ideal candidate for this role would have:
· Recognised SENDCo qualification (NPQ or Equivalent)
· Experience in identifying and supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs
· Strong knowledge of current SEND legislation, policies, and best practices
· Excellent interpersonal, organisational, and communication skills
· Ability to work collaboratively with parents, staff, and external professionals
· QTS
· Capable of planning for students from a variety of backgrounds and abilities, and inspiring them to reach their full potential
· A willingness to be fully involved as a member of the Learning Support department and the team of teachers at Upton House School and share in its ethos
· Previous experience of teaching children from age 4 to 11
· Excellent MS Office skills inc Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook
· Excellent communication skills
· Able to work as part of a team and use your own initiative
· Commitment to your role and being an inspiration
· Have a fun, can do attitude
· A willingness to meet challenges with enthusiasm and to contribute as a team member is essential

About Upton House School
Upton House School is a independent co-educational preparatory school in Windsor, Berkshire. The school was first opened in 1936, and is located on a one acre site in the centre of Windsor. In 2008 the two-storey facility Little Upton was opened, containing pre-nursery and nursery rooms with access to an outdoor play area. There are approximately 295 students on the school roll. Upton House is denominationally Christian, and is a registered charity.
