The Exciting Role 

Nelson and Colne College Group are looking for a diligent, experienced and keen Senior Finance Officer working within their Finance team focusing on procurement, on a full-time, permanent basis. The successful candidate will ensure that value for money is at the heart of the procurement of all goods and services, will meet the needs of our customers and will comply with financial procedures.

This exciting opportunity is suitable for a keen finance person looking to develop their skills in procurement, having good analytical and communication skills. There is the opportunity for development to work towards a level 3 / 4 CIPS (charted institute of Procurement & Supply). The successful candidate will promote and deliver excellent, high quality services to meet customer timescales. 

This role will be based at our Accrington and Rossendale College site, however, travel across sites may be required.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Work with suppliers to ensure we receive value for money.
  • Support departments with the procurement of goods and services in offering expertise maintain compliance with procurement policies and procedures.
  • Prepare tender documentation as required, and oversee the tender process of evaluation to award stage.
  • Monitor and promote a strong framework of contract management.
  • Provide reporting on procurement KPI’s and value for money.

What We Are Looking For:

  • 4 GCSEs or equivalent including Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above
  • IT qualification and/or demonstrable IT literacy
  • Recent experience of working in a financial environment
  • Experience of working to deadlines, formal procedures and Financial Regulations

About Nelson and Colne College

Nelson and Colne College, located in the town of Nelson, Lancashire, offers further education to 1,600 full-time students and 3,500 part-time adults. The college was founded during the reorganisation of education in Pendle in the early 1970s and created by the merger of several local sixth forms. 

Recent investments have included a £2m engineering facility, an all-weather sports pitch and gym, fully equipped science laboratories, and student study and social spaces. In January 2017, Nelson and Colne College launched a university centre to offer a range of higher education programmes in East Lancashire and beyond.
