This is a 12-month fixed-term position to cover parental leave.
As part of this role, you will collaborate effectively across the Cambridge Ecosystem – encompassing Cambridge University Press and Assessment as well as the University of Cambridge. Your work will be vital to delivering CUP&A's ambitions through targeted research in language learning and assessment.
We are Cambridge University Press & Assessment, a world-leading academic publisher and assessment organisation and a proud part of the University of Cambridge.
About the role

- Providing an expert domain and research perspective on the maintenance and development of learning and assessment products.
- Designing rigorous quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods research studies, incorporating both traditional and innovative methodologies.
- Leading research projects that meet high theoretical and technical standards and communicating findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Building strong relationships with internal teams to ensure that key learning and assessment principles inform decision-making processes.
- Developing/maintaining a strong academic profile in areas relevant to language education.
About you
To excel in this role, you will bring:
- An advanced degree in Applied Linguistics, Language Learning, Language Testing, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- A deep understanding of language learning and assessment, with demonstrated expertise in delivering research projects using a range of methodologies.
- The ability to confidently engage with internal and external stakeholders and convey research ideas and technical concepts to both specialist and non-specialist audiences.
The ideal candidate will have experience conducting research in areas such as accessibility, test accommodations, and broader EDI (Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion) considerations within language education. Familiarity with AI-supported learning and assessment, particularly in addressing ethical issues, would be highly desirable.
