Job overview
Based in West London, just 25 minutes from Clapham Junction, Rivers Academy is a Comprehensive Secondary School committed to supporting outstanding outcomes for our students. We work hard to foster high levels of self-worth within an Academy community that has the very highest expectations across uniform, behaviour, attendance and punctuality. Rivers is a great place to work too, with a strong focus on career development.
At Rivers we ask our students to take risks, be creative and make mistakes. As educators we are encouraged to think big, improvise and fail forward, through leveraging student interests, incorporating real world problems and using professional tools/expertise to design engaging interdisciplinary projects that drive students' curiosity for learning.
We are looking for a skilled individual to support our current Site Team to maintain the highest standard of repair, security and cleanliness of the school.
Working under the direction of the Regional Facilities Manager and the Site Manager, you will need to ensure that the school’s buildings, site, and furnishings are safe, secure, and maintained to Health and Safety standards as defined by the Academy and Health & Safety legislation.
As a Site Team Assistant, you will also need to ensure the opening and closing of the school buildings which will be managed on a rotational basis by the Site Manager between yourself and the other Site Assistants, so you must be flexible as hours could change to accommodate the needs of the schools.
The school opening and closing times are 5.45am to 5.45pm so you need to be able to work shifts between these times on a rota basis.
The position will be based at Rivers Academy (West London Campus) however you may be required to support at any of the four sites locally in the West London area.
Ideally, we are looking for someone who has a minimum of 2 years’ experience of general maintenance of buildings / site, basic DIY/handyman, repair and decorating experience, cleaning and general porterage experience and someone who has awareness and understanding of Health and Safety regulations.
If you consider you are the right person for this role and would like to be a part of the team then it would be great to hear from you!
Please see attached the Job description and person specification for more information.
Closing date for applications: Monday 13th January, 9:00am
Interview date – TBC (but we will look at interviewing suitable candidates before the closing date).
Rivers Academy [West London Campus] is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The post is subject to all pre-placement checks including obtaining references, proof of eligibility to work in the UK and an enhanced DBS check.

Values and vision
As a result of outstanding teaching, an engaging curriculum, personalised pastoral care and excellent extra-curricular opportunities, students at Rivers Academy are better qualified, more confident and articulate than ever before. This is crucial as the competition for post-16 courses, apprenticeships, jobs and university places intensifies annually. Staff enjoy knowing that students leave well prepared for successful future careers with excellent qualifications, high levels of self-esteem, confidence and the skills necessary to thrive in a very competitive world.
Each post-16 student has an academic mentor, with whom they meet daily and who supports them through the undeniable demands and challenges of post-16 study. Around 85% of Year 13 students embark on university courses, many at the highly competitive Russell Group universities.
Ofsted report

They are supported to make good choices and are, therefore, well prepared for the next stage of their lives.” “Staff value the exceptional training opportunities provided to them by the school. Staff regularly attend courses run in school to improve teaching and learning, and are involved in mentoring and coaching programmes. Training is carefully matched to meet teachers’ needs.”
