Job overview

Chiswick School is a GOOD school with OUTSTANDING features! (OFSTED February 2020) - we are a mixed stand alone academy of approx. 1600 pupils including a large, successful 6th Form. Our school is situated in a pleasant and accessible suburb of West London with easy train and tube access into inner London/or out of London.

We are looking to appoint a qualified Social Worker (or working towards qualification) or experienced safeguarding practitioner to join a large team working to support our students and their families. We will also consider your application if you have worked as a safeguarding team member in an educational setting supporting students.

This will be a hands on role and you will also be expected to keep careful records and be flexible, kind, professional and proactive. We are looking for someone special who can join our safeguarding team, attend home visits and work with families to engage students with SEMH needs.

This role is term-time only (39 weeks per year) and 36 hours a week but there is some flexibility.

Please send an application email to ara@chiswickschool.org by Friday 1st November 2024 outlining your experience. Please don't just attach a CV. Based on this we will shortlist candidates to meet with us. Please note we will interview as we receive applications and reserve the right to appoint a candidate before the closing date.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. An enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check that is satisfactory to us is a condition of employment, together will all other safeguarding checks in line with KCSiE. Chiswick School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all our staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Chiswick School is a mixed 11-18 school that is truly comprehensive in its nature.

Our vision is that we do whatever it takes to ensure every student achieves their full potential. Over the last year we have made rapid progress in our classrooms and we are delighted that Ofsted has recognised how far we have come. Over the next four years we are aiming to become one of the finest schools in London providing students with exceptional opportunities in and out of the classroom.

Chiswick School is full of adults who care deeply about children and we pride ourselves on the positive relationships we build with students. We are a family which includes parents and carers, teachers, other school staff and the community; with the child placed firmly at the centre of all that we do and the decisions that we take.

Our teaching and support colleagues are our most valuable resource and we work hard to provide a balanced and enjoyable working environment.  A new Wellbeing Strategy is being implemented to enhance what we are already doing to support our staff.

"Staff praise leaders for the improvements that have been made. They said that leaders take their workload and well-being seriously. Staff morale is high. They are committed to playing their part in the continued improvement of the school."  - Ofsted, January 2020

Laura Ellener
Headteacher
