ROLE SUMMARY:  

King's College, Latvia, opened in August 2017 as the first British school in the country. Located within the Saliena development in Riga, the school provides a quality British education to the local and surrounding communities. 

The school educates students aged 2-18, fostering a collaborative learning environment across all year groups. At King’s College, students follow the British curriculum, known for its hands-on, practical learning experiences that aim to enrich holistic growth. The school offers the IBDP for Years 12 and 13. 

We are seeking a new Spanish teacher, with the possibility of a Head of Department role for the right candidate. The successful candidate will join a high-performing Spanish department with a track record of exceptional IGCSE results, including a student winning the Latvian Spanish Olympiad last year. Spanish is valued throughout the school, and we celebrate Spanish culture annually. 

Many IBDP students select Spanish, underscoring its importance in our curriculum. We are looking for a teacher experienced in teaching IGCSE and IBDP Spanish. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Set aspirational goals and develop lesson plans that inspire, motivate, and challenge students. 
  • Foster a growth mindset, believing in the potential of all students. 
  • Adapt teaching strategies based on assessments to ensure continuous progress. 
  • Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners, including those with special educational needs. 
  • Encourage collaborative learning and support second language acquisition. 
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the subject, curriculum, and assessment criteria. 
  • Plan and deliver well-structured lessons using evidence-based teaching practices. 
  • Utilize formative and summative assessments to monitor progress and guide instruction. 
  • Create a respectful, safe, and positive learning environment with clear routines. 
  • Provide pastoral care, building respectful relationships with students. 
  • Uphold professionalism and contribute positively to the school's ethos and wider community. 
  • Participate actively in school events and activities that support student development.
