Hours: 30 hours per week - 10:00am to 3:00pm, Monday to Friday with additional overtime hours during the start and end of term

Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic Student Services Coordinator (Visa and Accommodation) to join our friendly team. The role supports and promotes the work of the student services team by contributing to, and maintaining, the student support environment that our students and their families expect in order to enhance the students experience at the college.

 

They offer admissions and visa compliance support to new applicants and existing students, both directly and through the group International Admissions Centre (IAC), as well as supporting with the delivery of an excellent accommodation service.

Your duties and responsibilities will include the following:

 

Compliance and Admissions

  • Ensuring compliance with the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) regulations for international students.
  • Helping to ensure high quality record-keeping in every area of student application, enrolment and visa records. 
  • To assist in mandatory UKVI reporting requirements
  • Supporting the admissions and compliance officer with issuing CAS to existing students who need to extend their student visa
  • To act as a Level 1 user of the UKVI sponsor management system (SMS)
  • To assist with welcome induction
  • To help oversee the visa and passport scanning as students arrive to college at the start of term
  • To conduct regular data checks of registered students
  • To be the first responder to the admission shared inbox, referring cases to the admissions and compliance officer where applicable for more support
  • To deputise for the admission and compliance officer as and when required
  • Entering and updating information on to school’s database.
  • Supporting students with in-country visa applications.
  • Representing the College in a professional customer-focused environment, with particular reference to communication with agents and parents.
  • Supporting with student BRP collection/distribution/correction.
  • Supporting the admissions and compliance officer with academic progression visa changes and reporting to Home Office.

 

General Administration:

  • Helping students with opening local bank accounts by creating relevant bank letters
  • Assistance with maintaining school records and understanding safeguarding issues.
  • Working with multiple teams to assist with all aspects of college life, including:
  • Accommodation
  • Finance
  • Group International Admissions Centre
  • Marketing
  • Academic
  • Pastoral
  • Senior Leadership

 

The above lists are not exhaustive, and you are required to undertake such duties as may reasonably be requested within the scope of the post. All employees are required to act professionally, co-operatively and flexibly in line with the requirements of the post and Abbey College Cambridge. 

 

 

Qualifications and Experience

You will hold A-level standard or equivalent qualifications, be competent in the use of ICT, particularly the use of MS Word, Outlook and Excel. Ideally you will have a working knowledge of record keeping and data protection. You will have excellent verbal and written English and the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships. Previous experience working in an education or busy office environment is desirable.

 

Hours:

10am to 3pm, Mon-Fri with additional overtime hours during the start and end of term. Occasional overtime may be requested.

Checks and Training

• Enhanced DBS checks to ascertain successful candidates suitability to work with children will be carried out. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, and therefore all convictions, cautions and bindovers, including those regarded as ‘spent’ must be declared.

• Online searches will be carried out on candidates for any unsuitable content by or about candidates.

• Two written & verbal references from previous employers and a personal reference will be sought. Referees will be asked about candidates suitability to work with children and whether they know of any disciplinary offences relating to children or young persons and whether candidates have been the subject of any child protection allegations or concerns and if so the outcome of any enquiry or disciplinary procedure.
