The German Swiss International School (GSIS) is one of Hong Kong's leading international schools providing quality, holistic education to a multinational student body of approximately 1300 students and 240 faculty and staff. The school is organised into two Streams, German and English leading to qualifications in the German International Abitur and I/GCSE & IB Diploma respectively. We are inviting applications for the following position commencing in August 2025.
The successful candidate will work in the Secondary School and collaborate with subject teachers and Heads of Year in implementing personalised learning practices, support and intervention strategies to meet the needs of individual students. S/he will work directly with individual students and small groups, based on consultation with staff and parents, to build approaches to learning - differentiated by learning need - and monitor related Individual Educational Plans (IEPs). S/he will liaise with outside agencies when appropriate, arranging assessments and provide feedback to staff. The Student Support Teacher will work in close collaboration with the Head of Student Support.
What is required and what we’re looking for
- Demonstrable knowledge of a range of learning challenges including ADHD and executive functioning challenges; experience working with Twice Exceptional students.
- Experience of managing cases and advocating for recommendations on educational assessments.
- Experience of integrating wellbeing and positive psychology strategies.
- Teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent) in Secondary Education.
- Experience of, or knowledge of, IGCSE and the IB Diploma Programme.
- Experience in an international context is desirable.
- 5 years teaching experience preferred.
- Excellent English speaker with sound written and oral communication skills.
- Experience in working collaboratively with a team.
- Culturally sensitive, tolerant and patient.
- Positive work ethic and proactive.
