Subject Leader of Science (August 2025 Start)

The Hamilton International School (THIS) is one of Doha’s premier schools and opened in 2019, with the Secondary School opening in 2020. We currently offer a unique opportunity for a Subject Leader of Science (any specialism) to join our team in August 2025. The Secondary School offers a high quality, bespoke, International Curriculum in Grades 6, 7 and 8. In Grades 9 and 10, our students begin the High School Diploma and in Grades 11 and 12 our students can opt for the full IB Diploma or IB Courses along with the High School Diploma.

Within Science, we follow the NGSS Intergrated Science in Grades 9 and 10, and IB DP Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Environmental Systems and Societies in Grades 11&12. The Science Department will consist of 5 full time members of staff from August 2025, along with a full time Lab Technician.

About the role 

We are looking to appoint a Subject Leader of Science to join our amazing team who:

• Is an outstanding and passionate practitioner and leader
• Has experience in leading and managing within a science team
• Has experience in teaching Science from Grades 6 to 12 (all specialisms will be considered)
• Has experience teaching Science at High School Diploma, IB Diploma Level or A Level equivalent level (experience of teaching IB DP Science would be advantageous)
• Is passionate about teaching and learning with a commitment to continuous improvement  
• Will be committed to the vision of igniting passion, purpose and potential in our students  
• Can contribute to the development of the Science Department offering creative opportunities to enrich the learning experience of students at THIS
• Adapts the curriculum to fit student needs while maintaining overall class progress  
• Assesses and records student development, while identifying problem areas and areas which need attention and improvement  
• Has excellent communication skills with students, colleagues, parents, and school leaders   
• Maintains high levels of behaviour among students, while promoting safety and compliance with school rules and guidelines 
• Is passionate about learning beyond the curriculum
• Has the ability to raise the profile of and opportunities for performing and visual arts at Hamilton

All successful applicants will be subject to satisfactory Criminal Background Checks covering the 10 years prior to their start date with the school; this will cover all countries of residence during that period.
