Loretto School is one of Britain’s leading independent boarding and day schools located on the outskirts of Edinburgh and we are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our Junior School as supply cover from January 2025, or sooner if possible.

This is to cover for staff who are absent at short notice due to illness or injury and for more extended periods of planned absence. It potentially covers the roles of Supply Teacher, Classroom Assistant and/or Support Worker depending upon our needs. This would be a flexible ongoing agreement, with opportunity to potentially be employed for planned periods of extended cover, as well as short notice occasional days.

The successful candidate may be working as part of the Pre-School and Early Years Team, with the Y4-7 team or a combination of both. 


Applicants must be prepared to undergo screening to confirm their suitability to work with children and young people. Applicants must be registered or eligible for registration with the SSSC and/or be qualified as a teacher.

Hours of Work:

Flexible hours and days according to requirements

Work may be as a teacher, a classroom assistant or a support worker

 

Salary

£24.48 per hour – for supply cover – Teacher

£13.00 per hour – for supply cover – Classroom Assistant and Support Worker

Interview Procedure

 

Interviews will be with the Junior School Head and the Junior School Deputy Head and the first round will be held on Monday, 2 December 2024. The selection process and interview questions will be structured around the information given in your application. Only those best fulfilling the job specification will be shortlisted.

 

You will be asked to explain any discrepancies or anomalies in the information you have provided either on the application form or in your covering letter as well as any issues arising from references, which will have been taken up before your interview. Questions may be asked about child protection procedures and your suitability to work with children.

 

The School is not able to enter into correspondence with unsuccessful applicants about why they were not appointed or interviewed.
