Job overview

We are looking for experienced, passionate Class Teachers for supply teaching work in our Early Years and Junior Schools, to provide support throughout the school year as/when needed, during planned or unplanned teacher absences. Supply work is offered on a zero hour supply contract and work hours are not guaranteed. Applicants will ideally be available to work on a flexible basis and, sometimes, at short-notice.

Successful candidates should ideally be UK-qualified teachers (or similar), with experience teaching children aged 3-5, 5-7, and 7-11 years, within the British curriculum. Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Education and/or the post-graduate PGCE/PGDE teaching qualification. For our Early Years School we prefer applicants with Early Childhood Education certification.

Key Responsibilities 

  • To take responsibility for planning and implementing appropriate work programmes for all children in the designated class, within the framework of the National Curriculum for England and school policies to ensure that the children experience a broad, balanced, relevant, and stimulating curriculum. 
  • To access children’s progress, maintain records, and provide written reports to parents and carers in accordance with school policies.      
  • To ensure a close match between the learning experiences offered and the individual needs of the children in the class, so as to give each child an opportunity to achieve the maximum of his/her capability, providing children with opportunities to manage their own learning and become independent learners.  
  • To create a secure, happy, stimulating classroom environment, maintaining the highest standards of organization and discipline, and a high standard of display both in the classroom and in other areas of the school.  
  • To foster each child’s self-image and self-esteem and establish relationships that are based on mutual respect, and ensure that the school’s aims and objectives in relation to the curriculum, equal opportunities, and discipline are promoted in everyday classroom organization and practice.

Person specification

  • 3+ years of experience working with the English National Curriculum  
  • UK teaching qualifications (B.Ed and/or PGCE) or higher are essential  
  • Experience working with Early Years or Primary-aged pupils (children aged 6-12 years)
  • Experience teaching EAL children useful  (children aged 3-6 years)
  • Experience in and an understanding of a wide range of learning abilities  
  • Professional understanding of the educational needs of children  
  • International School experience is desirable
