We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and inspiring Support for Learning Assistant to work within the Learning Support Department at The Mirfield Free Grammar.

Staff within the Learning Support Department work with students, parents and colleagues across the school, ensuring that all young people at The Mirfield Free Grammar have the best learning environment, allowing them to accelerate their learning and develop to their fullest potential.

As a Support for Learning Assistant, you will be predominately working with the students which have an Education Health and Care Plan, supporting students with a range of additional needs such as Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, ADHD and Autism. You will play an essential role in ensuring that the provisions and strategies needed to help these students achieve key life outcomes are implemented.  

The successful candidate will be expected to offer support that is student-centred and flexible to meet each students’ individual needs. You will be an instrumental person to the lives of the young people which you work with providing in-class support, group work and bespoke interventions.

You will be working with a team whose mission is to embed our values in everything we do.

Local Information

Mirfield is a small West Yorkshire town and lies on the A644 between Dewsbury & Huddersfield. Surrounded by rolling hills and fields there are many lovely views in Mirfield, one of the nicest being from the staff room window! Mirfield has a wealth of historical figures associated with it such as Robin Hood, the Luddites and the Bronte’s. More recently, it has produced such fine actors as Patrick Stewart who is also a patron of the school.  Situated very close to the M62, M1 and the A1, Mirfield is within very easy access of most of the North particularly Manchester, Liverpool, York, Sheffield and Hull.  There is a lot of beautiful countryside to explore and for those who prefer the city life, Mirfield is easily commutable from the vibrant and exciting Leeds city centre.
