We’re looking for an exceptional IT Service Desk Engineer to help us make a difference for our students. Our IT Service Desk Engineer will primarily be based at our Vantage Point campus in Paignton providing IT support both in person and via email & phone.

The role

The post holder will be part of a customer focused team providing excellent first touch IT support services to users to make the best use of the IT facilities at their disposal. This role will primarily be providing IT support at the Vantage Point campus, both in person and via phone and email. Reporting to the IT Service Delivery Lead under the direction of the Deputy Head of IT Services, you will have a central role in the support of IT, and you will work closely with other members of the team to continue to improve the continuity, resilience and quality of our site wide IT services and systems.

 

The department

IT Services manage SDC's central technology infrastructure and provides services and applications to support the educational missions of the organisation, as well as the College's business functions. Our vision is #makingIThappen. We work with key stakeholders to develop IT strategic planning; provide applications and systems; support departments and individuals with help via the IT Service Desk; and supply a communications infrastructure to support advanced network, voice, and web services. In addition to making a valuable contribution to innovation across the College, our staff share a high customer service ethic and commitment to continuous improvement.

 

Essential qualifications, skills & abilities

·      Minimum grade C or 5 in GCSE English and maths (or equivalent).

·      ICT qualification L2 or above.

·      At least 1 year of post-qualification experience working in an IT support role.

·      Experience of troubleshooting basic IT issues.

·      Excellent telephone skills.

·      Strong English grammar and attention to detail.

·      Enthusiasm and commitment to helping people.

·      Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines/targets.
