About the Role

Leeds City College is looking for an enthusiastic and inspirational English Teacher to join the School of Engineering and Manufacturing, based at our Printworks Campus, to plan and deliver inspirational GCSE lessons to our students.

The School of Engineering and Manufacturing is an exceptional place to work, with staff working collaboratively to ensure the very best outcomes for our students.

Our teams are shaping the next generation of engineers. We have learners on a range of Level 2 and Level 3 Engineering & Manufacturing courses as well as T Levels.

What You Will Do

  •  Plan, prepare and develop schemes of learning, teaching resources and effective lessons.
  •  Deliver and assess essential knowledge and understanding to learners.
  • Create individual SMART learning targets linked to the course.
  • Be responsible for assessing, tracking and recording student progress. 
  • Maintain and update knowledge of the subject and exam specifications.
  • Maintain and update knowledge of educational research to develop evidence-based practice.
  • Motivate and inspire students to achieve targets and develop their skills to enable progression.
  •  Carry out regular internal verification/moderation.

About You

  • Must have a L5 Teaching Qualification (e.g. Cert Ed, PGCE) and a relevant highest-level vocational qualification or degree in teaching subject.
  • You will be a passionate and enthusiastic educator with experience in teaching GCSE English to students at different levels within the secondary or FE sector.
  • A keen eye for detail and the ability to plan exciting and differentiated learning materials are essential to this role.
  • The ability to track and monitor progress to ensure learners reach their full potential will be a fundamental aspect of this role.
  • Willingness to go the extra mile to ensure students not only enjoy their learning experience but are fully prepared for their final assessments.
