About the role

To deliver our English curriculum across Years 7-13, and to support the development of a rich and challenging curriculum. Alongside this, to contribute to the development of teaching and learning across the English team in alignment with the departmental and whole-school curriculum vision. The successful candidate will be a model of professionalism, a dynamic team player and an outstanding practitioner in the classroom.

About our Academy

We are situated across two iconic sites on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, and our Secondary phase is now heavily oversubscribed. We are building partnerships with the new East Bank development, including the BBC, UCL, V&A East which is bringing incredible opportunities to the young people of East London.

Since the school was founded in 2017, we have set ambitious academic standards backed up by exciting enrichment opportunities, whilst nurturing and caring for the wellbeing of every child. At capacity, our two sites will accommodate over 1500 pupils, including a Sixth Form. Built on the legacy of the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games we enjoy world beating facilities including a competition standard 400m running track, full size football pitch and field events space, Astro-turf pitch, and state of the art classrooms and school buildings. Taking leadership inspiration from our namesake and the 1966 World Cup winning team we are inspired to generate transformational change for the young people in our care.

Who we are looking for

The English department is located in the heart of the school, with seven classrooms and a spacious library. Joining the team would give you the opportunity to be part of an experienced and dedicated team of teachers and support staff who are passionate about reading, writing and oracy. You will work closely with the Director of English as part of a committed team who are led by the latest research in education. The English department has a variety of educational backgrounds and experiences which we utilise through our weekly co-planning meetings and shared resourcing. You will also be supported by a Trust Wide Subject Lead and a national community of fellow subject experts who meet regularly to co-plan curriculum and to share best practise. The English team are at the forefront of curriculum development across the Trust, so you will have the opportunity to play a role in not only educating the students of Bobby Moore Academy, but improving provision nationally At Bobby Moore Academy, students study an ambitious and academic curriculum. We believe that sequencing matters. Our 5-year curriculum is sequenced to ensure that all students master essential disciplinary and substantive knowledge for success at GCSE, A-level and into a future of further study or the world of work. We balance our drive for academic success with an ambition to make all students keen readers and spread our passion for the written and spoken word. At KS4 our students follow the AQA GCSE English Language and English Literature specifications. At KS5 our student will follow the Edexcel A-level English Literature specification, with plans to introduce English Language in the next five years.
