The History/RE/PDL Department at The Hurst is a committed team of passionate, experienced teachers, with high expectations of ourselves and our classes, who aim to ensure students investigate the importance of key events, scientific developments, personalities and ideas over time, accessing a wide and varied curriculum in Key Stages 3 and 4. 

The Department has regularly secured good outcomes at GCSE in both History & RE, and progress made by pupils across the whole ability range is improving.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and inspirational teacher to join our group of professional and dynamic History/RE/PDL staff to deliver the KS3 and KS4 History/RE/PDL curriculum. You should be willing to share our values of Respect, Commitment, Ambition, Community and Excellence. We work very collegiately in order to share expertise and reduce additional workload. 

Located mostly on the upper floor of the Art and Humanities Block, the department has 4 dedicated History/RE classrooms, an intervention space and staff work area. History/RE teaching spaces are well-equipped with texts and resources, projectors and sound systems. 

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a friendly and supportive school to help deliver outstanding lessons and ensure the best outcomes for all of our students. The Hurst School is a successful and highly regarded school of 1000 students aged 11-16, situated within easy driving distance of Reading, Newbury and Basingstoke. The school enjoys a semi-rural location and sits on a large site with green surroundings.
