Job overview

Independent Specialist School has a vacancy for a Teacher of KS2 – Jan 25 or earlier start

Salary: MPS / UPS – suitable for ECT

Are you a qualified Primary phase teacher looking for an opportunity to work in an environment with small classes that allows you to focus on each child individually?

Undershaw is a popular over-subscribed school, and we are looking for a Teacher of KS2 to join our existing team at Undershaw, in Hindhead. Undershaw is a specialist setting where children from Year 3 to Post 16 with mild to moderate learning difficulties and additional needs, such as ASD, cerebral palsy, hemiplegia, and medical vulnerabilities can access the national curriculum and qualification pathways in a safe, secure, and friendly environment.

We are looking for KS2 teacher and would welcome applications from Early Career Teachers. You will have sufficient proven evidence of developing teaching practice and be able to demonstrate that you can balance academic expectations with the challenge of meeting the needs of SEND students. You will be passionate about making a difference and preparing students to be socially and economically engaged in the future.

You will work with the SEND, Pastoral and Therapy teams to assimilate therapeutic support, a proactive approach to health and wellbeing, social skills, PSHE and protective behaviours into the curriculum and across school life.  All teachers are Form Tutors, and we have regular multi-disciplinary meetings around students with specialist input, training and support from the Therapy team (Emotional Therapies, SaLT, OT and Physiotherapy). We invest significantly in staff professional development through a weekly extended CPD session delivered by a range of internal and external colleagues to share and develop pedagogy, SEND expertise and therapeutic strategies. Undershaw is definitely an environment where colleagues will learn.

Undershaw can offer you:

·      The opportunity to be part of a committed team in a “Good school”

·      SEN allowance

·      Teachers’ Pension Scheme`

·      Small class sizes – typically 8-10 students

·      Teaching Assistant in every class

·      Increased PPA

·      A beautiful school environment based in the Surrey Hills

Closing date Friday 13th September, interviews the following week. We reserve the right to draw the process to a close earlier due to quantity/quality of applications.

Undershaw is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff, volunteers and other third parties to share this commitment. Safer Recruitment practice and pre-employment background checks, including overseas checks, will be undertaken before any appointment is confirmed.
