Job overview

Sha Tin College is seeking to appoint a Learning Support teacher to work with students with diverse learning needs. This person will ideally have mainstream class teaching experience within an inclusive secondary context and will have experience and qualifications related to work and study in the field of SpLD and Inclusion. This position will suit a candidate with a background in inclusive education who wants to have a positive impact on students' social, emotional and academic learning. 


TEACHING AND LEARNING

  • Work closely with the Learning Support Team, Educational Assistants and class based-teachers to ensure students with individual needs receive a balanced curriculum, bridging programmes and differentiated classroom delivery.
  • Assess the learning needs of students requiring additional levels of adjustment through ‘push in’ and ‘pull out’ models of support.                                                                                                                                                                      
  • Demonstrate evidence-based practices within a graduated response to intervention (RTI) framework, through continuous assessment and measurement of progress.
  • Develop Individual Education Plans for students with diverse learning needs in collaboration with students, teachers and parents.     
  • Provide support in the area of social, communication and emotional learning.                                                                                                                                                          
  • Ability to develop curriculum and provide Learning Support provision across differing age ranges and subjects including social skills, academic skills enhancement and study skills.                                                                                                                                                   

REQUIREMENTS

  • Relevant knowledge and experience teaching students with diverse learning needs within a secondary environment (essential).                                                                                                                                            
  • Bachelor degree in Education or Bachelor degree in any subjects with PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate in Education) or equivalent (essential).
