The Garibaldi School is a successful, popular 11-18 school which serves its community well by providing a first-rate education for all its students. We are a growing and over-subscribed school with ‘Leading Edge Status’. Our latest Ofsted inspection classified us as a ‘Good’ School. An APTGO review judged the SEND provision to be outstanding.
We have created a safe environment where students can feel comfortable, well supported and confident. We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, passionate, motivated and dynamic Maths teacher. You will have good subject knowledge and a passion for Maths. You will be hard working, enthusiastic and want students to love Maths. You will share an understanding that all members of staff have a collective responsibility to ensure that every student achieves to the best of their ability.

We actively engage and listen to parents, making sure their views shape school policies. We work with them as partners in their child’s learning, personal development and well-being. The Garibaldi School is a very effective school, which serves its local community well by providing a first rate education to all its students. We work in close partnership with other schools to ensure education across the local area is as good as it can be. We make sure that we are transparent and explain carefully to all stakeholders the purpose of what we are trying to do. Students that leave The Garibaldi School are successful, thoughtful and independent. They have been encouraged to aim high and are well equipped to meet the future challenges that they will face.
Achievement
In 2018/19, the school was ranked as the best school in Mansfield and 6th best school in Nottinghamshire for its Progress 8 figure of +0.47. Student achievement in English and Maths is regularly strong with students performing in the top 10% of schools nationally.
The Progress 8 figure for disadvantaged students was +0.16 for The Garibaldi School in comparison to -0.45 nationally.
The school is designated as a Leading Edge school in recognition nationally for the achievement of the students and our creative approaches to education.
Ofsted
The Garibaldi School was last inspected in January 2017. The School remains a good school and is now striving for an Outstanding OFSTED judgment.
The most recent OFSTED report stated:
- Senior leaders, have a clear understanding of the school’s strengths and are open and honest about areas which are less strong. This means that you have been able to ensure an absolute focus on school improvement.
- Pupils and staff feel valued. There is a sense of shared responsibility for all aspects of life at the school. Relationships between pupils and staff are positive. Pupils are keen to succeed and value their achievements.
- Pupils behave very well in lessons and around school. There is a clear system of sanctions and rewards which pupils understand and appreciate. Pupils report that behaviour is good and say that there is little disruption to their learning in lessons.
