The Role

Corfe Hills School is expanding! As a result of ongoing growth, we have an exciting job opportunity for January 2025. We are an ambitious and high performing school where every student is known and supported to succeed. The school has been on a significant and ambitious improvement journey over the last five years as can be seen by our excellent outcomes. We are delighted with our recent Ofsted inspection in September 2021 when we were graded good in all categories. This is a fantastic opportunity to join our fabulous English faculty (of which Media forms a part) whose work was commended during the recent Ofsted inspection.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, well qualified and ambitious teacher to join our Media Department. The ability to teach to GCSE is essential and the ability to offer A-level is desirable. As a classroom practitioner you would need to demonstrate exceptional classroom practice and be able to motivate and inspire students. This will involve 100% commitment to our vision which is captured in our strapline “High Expectations | Exceptional Individuals”.

Teaching and Learning

Teaching and Learning is at the heart of all that we do and our personalised professional development programme is centred around our Principles of Teaching that have been shaped by research from, among others, Barak Rosenshine, John Hattie and Doug Lemov. We also follow a lesson structure shaped around these principles that liberates and enables students to Learn to the Max every lesson. We are committed to regular developmental lesson visits and coaching conversations as part of our shared commitment to developing as practitioners.

The Curriculum

Media fits within the English Faculty; a supportive and experienced team. We teach KS4 and KS5, and aim to support the school with extra-curricular filming of events.

In Years 10 and 11, students have 5 lessons a fortnight, following the Eduqas specification. Our Media texts are adapted in line with the specification and include texts such as Quality Street, Crime Drama, Music Videos and Fortnite. Lessons are well resourced, giving time to read student work and adapt teaching to address misconceptions.

Our A Levels are taught over 9 hours a fortnight, we offer Media Studies A Level.

Our Facilities

Our facilities are excellent; we have a new suite of rooms with projectors and whiteboards. Teachers are issued with a laptop. Students have access to the Adobe suite to enable them to learn industry standard software.

Living Here

Corfe Hills School is in a fabulous location within easy reach of Bournemouth and its beaches, Poole and its harbour, the Jurassic Coast and the Dorset countryside. The school serves the catchment area of Broadstone, Corfe Mullen and the wider area and we truly believe that all of our students are exceptional.
