Job overview

The Governors of All Saints Catholic High School, Kirkby are seeking to appoint an inspirational, ambitious and innovative Teacher of Music.

Music at All Saints Catholic High School is one of three subjects within the Performing Arts

Department. Music has historically been a thriving and dynamic part of the school,

committed to fostering a love of music and developing students; creativity, confidence and

technical skills. Music offers a broad and engaging curriculum at Key Stages 3 and 4,

covering performance, composition and music appreciation across a diverse range of genres

and traditions.

Students have access to a range of musical opportunities, including instrumental and vocal

lessons, extracurricular ensembles and performance opportunities such as concerts,

showcases and school productions. The subject is well-resourced with dedicated teaching

space, practice rooms, and music technology facilities to support composition and

recording.

Collaboration is key to the department’s success, with strong links to other creative

subjects, local music hubs, and community organisations. The Performing Arts team is

passionate about making music accessible to all students, encouraging participation at every

level, from those discovering music for the first time to those pursuing it at GCSE.

We are looking for a dedicated and inspiring music teacher to join our team, bringing

enthusiasm, expertise, and a commitment to high-quality music education. Whether you are

an experienced teacher or an ECT, we welcome applications from those who share our

vision of nurturing musical talent and enthusiasm in young people.

All Saints is a co-educational Roman Catholic secondary school with a comprehensive intake. Its purpose is to provide a suitable catholic, academic education for all its pupils, within which each may develop towards his/her full potential.

  • To encourage the pupils to develop a love of God and of Jesus Christ his son; to gain knowledge of the teachings of Jesus and of the beliefs and practices of the Roman Catholic Church; to teach pupils by word and example what is involved in a Christian way of life.
  • To develop the school as a caring community, whose members have respect for themselves and others and an awareness of the needs of others both in the school and in the wider communities of parish, town of Kirkby and the society of which we are all part.
  • To develop the pupils’ critical powers and to encourage a positive contribution towards society, infused by Christian values and standards, in particular recognising the dignity of each individual as a human being.
  • To provide each pupil with a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum which promotes the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of pupils.
  • To provide pupils with the skills, qualifications and experience which will enable them to take their place in society.
  • To encourage in pupils a desire and willingness to acquire knowledge, skills and experience.
  • To encourage the pupils to appreciate the virtues of cooperation and consideration, and to develop a sense of responsibility and self-discipline.

“My ambition for the school is for every student to fulfil his or her potential in a caring ethos and to ensure the school continues to be an outstanding provider of education for the community we serve.”
