Job overview
Chiswick School is a high performing school in West London of nearly 1600 students (including a thriving and very successful 6th Form).
The school is heavily oversubscribed and remains the first choice school for many parents in Hounslow. Shortlisted for the TES School of the Year Award in 2022 and 2023 and in 2023 winner of the TES Best Arts Provision category. Our examination results this summer again were excellent!
OFSTED rated the school as good with outstanding features in February 2020.
Our fantastic staff share a moral purpose that is rooted in providing brilliant opportunities for our students. Teams support each other, everyone works hard but we also have fun together!
We will be looking for an additional Teacher of PE (Girls), starting January 2025. Ideally our new colleague has some experience in gymnastics/trampolining (but this is not necessary). We offer many extra curricular clubs and all members of our PE team are expected to get involved.
What we are looking for:
- A PE relevant degree from an established university (required)
- PGCE/QTS or equivalent (required)
- Excellent working knowledge of the National Curriculum
- The ability to reflect on your own practice and welcome professional development
- Respect for and willingness to promote the school’s ethos and values
Your department can offer:
- An amazing team with great leadership
- Centralised resourcing to reduce workload
- Dedicated department time for pedagogical, curriculum and knowledge focus
- Sensible marking policy
- Supportive behaviour system
- Centralised detentions
- Online marked homework platform for KS3-KS5
- Extensive experience in ITT mentoring
- Opportunities to develop as a leader
- Two week October half-term
We welcome applications from ECTs as well as experienced teachers.
Our team delivers a shared, knowledge-rich curriculum which supports students' pedagogical needs to the best of our ability. Our vision is that all students, regardless of their ability and prior scientific knowledge, are inspired to learn and that they thrive doing so.
If you wish to discuss this further or would like to come and look at the school, please contact the Director of HR, Andrea Ramsay on 0208 747 6659 or 07401198476 or email enquiries@chiswickschool.org Applications will only be accepted through the TES application portal.
Closing date: Monday 9th December but please note interviews will be held throughout the application process and the school reserves the right to make an early appointment should there be an exceptional candidate.
Chiswick School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all our staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. An enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service and Online Search check that is satisfactory to us is a condition of employment so are all other statutory pre employment checks.

About Chiswick School
Chiswick School is a mixed 11-18 school that is truly comprehensive in its nature.
Our vision is that we do whatever it takes to ensure every student achieves their full potential. Over the last year we have made rapid progress in our classrooms and we are delighted that Ofsted has recognised how far we have come. Over the next four years we are aiming to become one of the finest schools in London providing students with exceptional opportunities in and out of the classroom.
Chiswick School is full of adults who care deeply about children and we pride ourselves on the positive relationships we build with students. We are a family which includes parents and carers, teachers, other school staff and the community; with the child placed firmly at the centre of all that we do and the decisions that we take.
Our teaching and support colleagues are our most valuable resource and we work hard to provide a balanced and enjoyable working environment. A new Wellbeing Strategy is being implemented to enhance what we are already doing to support our staff.
"Staff praise leaders for the improvements that have been made. They said that leaders take their workload and well-being seriously. Staff morale is high. They are committed to playing their part in the continued improvement of the school." - Ofsted, January 2020
Laura Ellener
Headteacher
