About Corby Technical School and the role

There is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and dynamic Spanish teacher to join our vibrant and forward-thinking Modern Languages Department in January 2025. We are a positive and caring team who work collaboratively together to plan stimulating and engaging lessons which aim to enthuse students with a love of language and provide cultural capital to equip them as global citizens. We wish to welcome someone into our team who shares those aspirations. As a department we support each other, share resources and ideas, and strive to model best practice through well designed lessons that put the student at the centre. Therefore, to join us you need to be an inspirational teacher who has a passion for promoting success and positivity in the classroom and who puts relationships at the centre of their teaching.

As a Spanish teacher at Corby Technical School you will be responsible for planning for a specific year group. You will be expected to promote high quality teaching and learning and will need to be a reflective practitioner, embracing new practices and ideas. In addition, you are required to be organised and adaptable. We currently run a cross-curricular Art and Spanish trip to Barcelona, and there are many other opportunities to get involved with planning trips or visits, so we welcome someone who is keen to develop this aspect of their teaching role.

As a school, we believe in languages for all and the vast majority of our KS4 students continue with Spanish at GCSE. Learning a foreign language develops key employability skills alongside the core British values of tolerance, acceptance, and respect. The Modern Foreign Languages department has worked hard to produce a curriculum which encompasses all these things; promotes curiosity and understanding of the wider world; and which is tailored to students of all abilities: we have an emphasis on inclusivity whilst working hard to provide opportunities for our gifted linguists. We currently teach Spanish to years 7 – 11 but there is an intention to establish a new A level Spanish course within our thriving Sixth Form in the future.

Our students come from all walks of life, and we want our staffing body to be reflective of the communities we work within. Brooke Weston Trust does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, nationality, culture, age, disability, marital status or socio-economic backgrounds. We encourage and welcome applications from minority groups and foster a work environment that’s inclusive as well as diverse, where people can be themselves.
